2000 toyota corolla carburetor the car shuts off every time i come to a stop or slow down

you have two circuits in a carby......a high speed and a low speed, the slow one is the one that takes engine revs up to about 1500 rpm, the high speed takes over after that. these carby's can be a nightmare to fix, only tackle if you feel confident or try a can of carb clean sprayed into the air intake.

Help me my iddle

7_2_2013_4_53_38_pm.jpgHi rfigueroa633, there is a idle speed adjusting screw on the carburetor of your bike. it is a small chamber which is connected to the inlet port of the engine. you can find it under the fuel tank and should be easily accessible. Find a adjustable screw near to the bottom of the carburetor. Now with the engine in start condition adjust the screw to get the desired slow speed of the engine. Make it a bit higher than what you currently have. Dont make it too high as it will consume more fuel.
Hope this helps you.

Stihl 090 Chainsaw carburetor get way too much gas at high speed, even though HS jet is completely closed.

You have an internal circuit leak in the body itself, my friend. Get a new carb, it's still going on a $1000 saw and will make it run like new again.

I have a 2000 Heritage Classic. When I start the engine it will die if I don't keep the choke pulled out. Once I get on the road, I will push the choke all the way in, but the bike will die if I slow...

It sounds like the jets in your carb (if your bike is equipped with a carburetor) are clogged up if it's equipped with a carburetor. It's running off the main jet when going down the road but will not run good at slow speed or idle. It will run off the "choke" because it is not a choke, it's actually and "enricher". The two systems differ in that the enricher has it's own air passageway and draws fuel directly from the float bowl. Todays gasoline, with it's blend of ethanol, evaporates quicker and leaves more additives behind when it does. This thick syrupy looking stuff will clog the jets in your carb. You may be able to pour a can of fuel system cleaner like you would add to the gas tank of a car and clear it up but the chances are slim. Usually when this happens, you must disassemble the carburetor and soak it in a professional grade carburetor cleaning solution. If you're not comfortable with the removal and disassembly of the carb, I'd take it to a shop to have this done. If your bike is fuel injected, it is probably the same problem only I can't tell you anything about it. I know nothing about the fuel injection systems. I work on the older model bikes that the dealers will no longer work on like the Shovelheads , Panheads, and Ironhead Sportsters. I hope this helps.

Good Luck & Ride Safe.

I just purchased a 1998 Shadow 750. The guy that had it wasn't riding it. We tried to start it, no luck. I emptied all the gas lines (because it was 2 yrs old gas) tried again still no start. It has...

If it sat for two years with bad gas in it, you will have to take off the carburetors and clean them thoroughly. Make sure all the passageways(slow jet, high speed circuit, carb body, etc.)are clear of gunk. Take the fuel inlet tube for the carburetors and place it into a fuel container and turn the bike on for a few seconds to test that the fuel pump is working. You may also want to change the fuel filter.

My splendor NXG is showing a problem of petrol overflow through the petrol overflow tube when I ride the bike in traffic jam ,i.e holding the clutch repeatedly and driving in low gears.THe same problem...

Drain the carburetor. There should be a screw on the lower side or bottom of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carb to fill with gas. If the bike still has the problem, shut off the gas and remove the carburetor from the engine.

Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the idle screw and the air screw on the outside throat of the
carb and spray into the screw holes as well.
Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two adjusters down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each adjuster one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the
carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

My jet ski starts fine, goes slow, when i give it gas the rpms rev high but it wont go any faster than the low idle speed

You are dealing with moisture in your electronics box or moisture corrosion in you carburetor. Take you carburetor apart and clean it . Make sure the needle is not sticking and do not alter the spring in any way.

When you get to about 55mph the engine loses revs, when you take throtte off it picks up again

I'm guessing you have a fuel delivery problem caused by a defective petcock, a plugged fuel filter, or incorrect float level (causing you to run out of gas at high speed until you slow down and refill the float bowl so the carburetor can flow gas properly) If your float level is set to low, the bike will run normally until you go fast enough to run the bowl out of gas. Hope this helps.
