The tach and speedo are their own separate unit.  There is no changeable light bulb.  You may want to check your light and instrument fuses.  If those are working, I would remove the outer fairing and check the connections to your tach and speedo.

Remove the rear cover of instrumentcluster. On upper part of speedo and revcounter you'll find two bulbs in their seat. Pull those out and change the bulbs. Not very difficult.Reverse to rebuild.

Dash "warning" lights all work but the speedo and tach do not lite up.

Wiring. The illumination usually has it's own power and ground wires. You'll need a pin out for the plug. Check the power and ground at the plug. Missing( most likely), Then check the power wire to any ground or the body. If you have power, then check the ground wire to any hot fuse. If you don't get a 12 volt reading, cut the wire and run a new ground. Same for the power wire. But it is best to run the power wire back to the light switch.

2002 electra glide speeometer light bulb

Hi Anonymous, this procedure although not that difficult is has a pretty lengthy how to description. That being said your going to need tools, and the first and very best tool you will ever buy should be a factory service manual. It will pay for itself the very first time you use it to replace your speedometer light bulb. Good luck

Speedo probably has a running light wire going to it to iluminate it at night, the speed sensor itself is cable driven. As for the tach it is probably cable driven too and needs a running light to power it. Look inside your headlight and plug the tach/speedo wires into a ground and running light wire.. once the headlight is off follow the running light (small bulb)'s wires, those are the wires you need.

GS500F 04, TACHO GAUGE ISN'T LIGHTING UP, STILL WORKING, JUST NO LIGHTS AND NO LOW BEAM? ARE THESE SOMEWHAT CONNECTED? EVERYTHING ELSE ELECTRICAL IS STILL WORKING FINE

The Tach and speedo lights are connected together. They should both light the moment ignition is switched to "On". The taillight and headlamp's sidelight should also light up at the same time.
If the lights mentioned come on then the problem is at the bulb in the rear of the tach itself.
First try switching the tach and speedo bulbs to confirm that it is the bulb. If not the bulb check wiring.
The grey wire on the connector is the power feed to the bulbs. See that you have 12V on this line The black/white is the earth line for these 2 bulbs and also for the high beam indicator. Connecting 12V to between the black/white and the grey will let the speedo and tach light up.
As for the low beam the white wire on the back of the headlamp supplies power to the low beam. If you have 12V on this line with the handlebar switch set to low beam, then you have a blown low beam filament and the bulb needs replacement. With no power to this line when switched to low beam, check the wire between the switch and headlamp for continuity. I'm assuming the high beam works so if you've still not solved the problem at this point then the switch needs repair or replacing.
Please leave a comment if you need further assistance.
