There is a switch in your right-hand switch housing which is activated when your front brake lever is depressed.  If this breaks, your brake light will stay on.  To check this, you'll need to take apart your switch housing.  The two screws are a torx 25 and the two holding your master cylinder on are a torx 27.  The switch is right behind the brake lever.  If this is the problem, you'll have to buy a new switch and sodder it in.

Why do brake lights stay on while diving and cruise control doesn't work?

If the brake light switch connected to the brake pedal has failed, the brake lights are stuck on which fools the cruise control into disengaging.

My 2002 Ford Focus brake lights stay on in drive, cruise control doesnt work and the hatch button in car doesnt work. I noticed the middle rear brake light is also out.

If you brake lights stay on and the cruise control doesn't work then I would be looking at the brake light switch at the top of the brake pedal as if there is power passing through it then it cuts out the cruise control. The same as if you put your foot on the brake cuts out the cruise control. The hatch button will be another problem like a fuse or broken cable or failed latch solenoid. As to the rear middle brake light try checking the bulb first.

Electrical problem on 1996 Dodge Dakota

It will drain at a rate of 21Watts X 2 = 42Watts at 12Volts = 3.5Amps. If you have an 70 Ah battery that is 20hours to totally flat from fully charged.

My brake lights wont turn off even when the truck is and my cruise wont engage either????

Your cruise won't engage because your brake lights are on permanently.
These are on permanently probably because your brake switch is faulty.
It's located near the top of your brake pedal.

Cruise control relay

There is a switch next to the brake light switch. It is actuated by the brake pedel. On the brake pedal there is a little urethane/rubber bumper. If that is gone then it will appear to the switch that the brakes are pressed. Any chance you found some rubber parts on the floor under your brake pedal?m On my 92 SE-R I found this urethane material and did not know where it came from. Then I noticed my cruise did not work. Then I noticed that my brake lights were staying on. I found these two switches (brake and cruise) were not making up because the rubber bumpers were gone. relay is located under the hood on the drivers side

2008 ultra classic brake lights stay on and cruise won't work

Hi Anonymous, this problem is usually cause by the front brake light switch being out of alignment or the button not retracting all the way keeping your brake light on in a closed circuit, depending on your model year. 1996 and earlier models the right handlebar switch housing had to be tight up against the front brake control housing in order for the front brake light switch button to be fully compressed to stop continuity. In 1997 and later models the button was alot shorter and was more of an alignment issue in the switch housing. Rear brake light switches located in the rear brake line TEE can also fail in the closed circuit condition but extremely rare, usually they fail in an open circuit condition where the brake light is not able to activate. 01 Hyundai Elantra - Cruise Control Doesn't Work w/ Headlights On

I had same problem (cruise control/dashboard lights) for the past month with my 2000 Elantra. Replace the tail lights bulbs - my problem was caused by a problem with the double filament within the bulb. Essententially, there was a short when I turned on the lights or hit the brakes.

I did this last night and everything is working properly now.

Cruise control will not 'set' on '05 kia sportage

Check the brake lighf bulbs. If even one is burnt out, it throws the sensors.
Had the same problem replaced both bulbs and now the esp light stays off and the cruise control sets.
