Question about 1996 kawasaki ZX-7RR

KX125 Front Wheel assembly

We removed the front wheel to repair a punture, when re assembling the wheel i found that no matter what way i put the wheel back on the spacers on the thread and bolt that go through the front forks do not seem to tighten flush. the bolt reaches the end of the thread before the forks have tightened enough to take up the space between the spacer and the bike frame??

Pull the hand brake. Block the rear wheels and transmission in neutral. Jack up the front wheels, first rotate the right wheel and if it slightly resists, its normal.Similarly check the left wheel also. If any one of the front wheels is hard to rotate, remove the Tyre and service the caliper assembly by greasing the pins with graphite grease. Also check the piston of the caliper assembly if it is not stiff. If so, free it up or replace the caliper kit with a genuine one on both sides. Always service both the front and rear brake system simultaneously.
If both the front wheels are jammed, the probable cause is the brake master cylinder assembly which need to be replaced with a new one.
If both of the front wheels are found to be normal, lower the front wheels and lift up the rear wheels. If any of the rear wheels are found to be partially of fully jammed, readjust the rear brake system or hand brake cable.

1995 2 WD NIssan Pathfinder front brake rotor replacement


If you are in need of replacing the front brake rotors on your Pathfinder it is an easy job, and here is how you can do it and save some money. First you will want to chock the wheels, loosen the lugs, jack the vehicle up, remove the wheel, remove the bolts that hold the wheel assembly to the caliper, there are 8 total, (you will want to have someone pressing the brake pedal so the wheel assembly will not turn during the bolt removal) then you will take the brake caliper, and assembly off. Then you will take the bearing dust cover off, you can do this by using a flat/common screwdriver and a hammer, (just make sure that you do not punture the dust cover) there you will see a keeper washer that has 2 screws in it, remove those screws, and use the flat/common screwdriver to take the washer out. You will now see what appears to be the same kind of washer, and you will notice that the spindle is threaded; using a metal punch, or a common screwdriver and a hammer you will use one of the holes on the nut and gently tap it free. Once you loosen and remove the nut the whole wheel assembly will come off (the wheel bearing needs to be kept free of debris, it will be the first thing that comes off when you pull the assembly off) and you will then be able to replace the rotor. This is a great time to replace the wheel assembly grease seals and bearings, if they are bad. Once you have replace the rotor, just reverse the steps above. When you are at the stage to reinstall the brake caliper, you will want to remove the top off of the master cylinder resivor and use a caliper spreader to open the caliper so it will fit over the new rotor.

How do I take off my front wheels off my chameleon


You can down load manuals from www.bugaboo.com the front wheels are held by two plastic tabs at the top of the wheel assembly. These are pushed together to let the top of the wheel assembly pass down out of the front wheel mounting. They are quite firm the first few times you remove them. If you have put the wheel assembly into the wheel mounts from the wrong side you'll need two large screwdrivers to slide down into the mount to reach the tabs.

REMOVAL OF FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS


Front (4 Wheel Drive) To Remove:
  1. Raise and support the vehicle
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Tire and wheel assembly
    • Rotor (See: Disc Brake Rotor)
    • Wheel speed sensor and brake hose mounting bracket bolt from the steering knuckle
    • Electrical connection for the wheel speed sensor
    • Front drive halfshaft assembly (See: Halfshaft)
    • Hub and bearing assembly mounting bolts 4WD front hub 9308kg35.gif

    • Hub and bearing assembly
To Install:
  1. Clean all corrosion or contaminates from the steering knuckle bore and the hub and bearing assembly
  2. Lubricate the steering knuckle bore with wheel bearing grease or the equivalent
  3. Install or connect the following:
    • Hub and bearing assembly
    • Hub and bearing assembly mounting bolts and tighten the hub to knuckle bolts; Torque to: 133 ft. lbs. (180 Nm)
    • Front drive halfshaft assembly (See: Halfshaft)
    • Electrical connection for the wheel speed sensor
    • Wheel speed sensor and brake hose mounting bracket bolt to the steering knuckle and tighten the bolt; Torque to: 106 inch. lbs. (12 Nm)
    • Rotor (See: Disc Brake Rotor
    • Tire and wheel assembly

  4. Torque the lug nuts to specification
  5. Test drive the vehicle to confirm the repairs

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Tire and wheel assembly Caliper and rotor Wheel speed sensor and brake hose mounting bracket bolt from the steering knuckle Electrical connection for the wheel speed sensor Front drive halfshaft assembly on four wheel drive models Hub and bearing assembly mounting bolts Hub and bearing assembly O-ring seal from the steering knuckle bore (2500 series)
  3. Clean and inspect the O-ring seal
To install:
  1. Clean all corrosion or contaminates from the steering knuckle bore and the hub and bearing assembly.
  2. Install the O-ring to the steering knuckle (2500 series).
  3. Lubricate the steering knuckle bore with wheel bearing grease or the equivalent.
  4. Install or connect the following:

    Hub and bearing assembly Hub and bearing assembly mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts to 133 ft. lbs. (180 Nm). Front drive halfshaft assembly on four wheel drive models Electrical connection for the wheel speed sensor Wheel speed sensor and brake hose mounting bracket bolt to the steering knuckle. Tighten to 106 inch lbs. (12 Nm). Rotor Tire and wheel assembly.

Cant remove wheel hub

Section 04-01: Suspension and Wheel Hubs, Front 1996 Taurus, Sable Workshop Manual
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Wheel Hub Bolt Removal
  1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
  1. Remove wheel and tire assembly. Refer to Section 04-04 .
  1. Remove disc brake caliper (2B120), and front disc brake rotor (1125). Refer to Section 06-03 .
Brake Shoe and Lining Removal
  1. Remove brake master cylinder filler cap (2162). Check fluid level in brake master cylinder reservoir (2K478). Remove brake fluid until brake master cylinder reservoir is half full. Discard removed fluid.
  1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02 .
  1. Remove wheel and tire assembly from front disc brake rotor mounting face. Use care to avoid damage or interference with disc brake caliper (2B120), front disc brake rotor shield (2K004) or front wheel knuckle (3K185).
  1. Remove rear brake pin retainers (2N386). ( I think it is a T 40 torx bit you need)
  1. NOTE: It is not necessary to disconnect hydraulic connections.

    Lift disc brake caliper from front disc brake caliper anchor plate (2B292) and front disc brake rotor (1125). Do not pry directly against metal caliper piston or damage will occur.
  1. Position disc brake caliper out of the way and support with wire to avoid damaging the disc brake caliper and front brake hose (2078).
  1. Remove outer brake shoe and lining (2001) assembly from front disc brake caliper anchor plate.
  1. Remove inner brake shoe and lining assembly.
  1. Position lug bolt (1107) to clear front wheel knuckle (3K185).
  1. Remove lug bolt from wheel hub (1104).

Installation
  1. Install lug bolt into wheel hub.
  1. Using a lug nut (1012), seat wheel hub bolt into wheel hub.
  1. Install front disc brake rotor and disc brake caliper. Refer to Section 06-03 .
  1. Install wheel and tire assembly. Tighten lug nut to 115-142Nm (85-104 lb-ft).

Removal
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the wheel (1007) and tire assembly.
  3. NOTE: It is not necessary to disconnect the front brake hose (2078).

    Remove the disc brake caliper (2B120) and suspend it with mechanic's wire out of the way. Refer to Section 06-03 for the removal procedure.
  4. Remove the front disc brake rotor (1125).
  5. Remove and discard the cotter pin.
  6. Remove the nut retainer and insulator.
  7. Remove the front axle wheel hub retainer (3B477) and the front wheel outer bearing retainer washer (1195).




  8. Remove and discard the cotter pin from the front suspension lower arm ball joint (3050).
  9. Loosen the front suspension lower arm ball joint nut until it contacts the front wheel driveshaft joint.

  10. Strike the front wheel knuckle with a hammer while pulling down on the front suspension lower arm (3078) until the front suspension lower arm ball joint separates from the front wheel knuckle.




  11. Remove the front suspension lower arm ball joint nut.




  12. Remove the front suspension lower arm ball joint from the front wheel knuckle.
  13. Remove and discard the cotter pin.




  14. Remove the tie rod end nut.




  15. Use Tie Rod End Separator T85M-3395-A to separate the tie rod end (3A130) from the front wheel knuckle.




  16. Remove the front brake anti-lock sensor bolt.




  17. Remove the two front shock absorber-to-front wheel knuckle nuts.




  18. Remove the two front shock absorber-to-front wheel knuckle bolts.
  19. Remove the front shock absorber (18124) from the front wheel knuckle.
  20. Use 2-Jaw Puller D80L-1002-L, or equivalent, to separate the front wheel driveshaft and joint (3B436) from the front wheel knuckle.
  21. Remove the front wheel hub, front wheel knuckle and front wheel bearing as an assembly from the vehicle.
  22. If necessary, match mark and remove the steering stop bolt and steering stop bolt jam nut from the front wheel knuckle.




Installation
  1. Position the front wheel hub, front wheel knuckle and front wheel bearing as an assembly on the front wheel driveshaft and joint.
  1. Install the front wheel knuckle into the front shock absorber.
  1. Install the two front shock absorber-to-front wheel knuckle bolts.
  1. Install the two front shock absorber-to-front wheel knuckle nuts. Tighten the front shock absorber-to-front wheel knuckle nuts to 113-123 Nm (83-91 lb-ft).

RELACING WHEEL BEARINGS IN A 95 JEEP GRAND


Front wheel bearings can be done at home rear wheel bearings will require a hydraulic press and an axle puller. Either job can be difficult depending on amount of rust and availability of tools. The front wheel bearings are an assembly and once the jeep is up on jack stands, with the tires, brake calipers, and rotors removed, it is only a matter of removing the axle nut and 3 bolts (which can be difficult depending on rust) holding in the old bearing assembly

Service and Repair
  1. Remove front hub/steering knuckle assembly from vehicle.
  2. Position front hub/steering knuckle assembly on a press and press front hub out of steering knuckle using a suitable removal tool.
  3. Remove E-clip from steering knuckle, then position steering knuckle onto a press.
  4. Using a suitable bearing remover, press bearing out of steering knuckle.
  5. Reverse procedure to install.
