The filter is under a cover plate just forward of the clutch and towards the top of the gearbox. With filter change, the bike takes 1.16 quarts of 10w40 motor oil. ( 1.1 liter ).

What type of oil do I use for a 1993 Honda XR 250? How much oil do I put in it?

I use semi-synthetic 20W50 and change the oil every 3500-4000 km.
I do the filter at the same time.

03 yzf 250f how to change oil

This engine holds one quart of standard Yamaha YZ 250 engine oil. The oil filter is located on the rear of the crankcase behind the suspension spring. The oil filter looks like a small metal can that is screwed into the top rear of the crankcase. On the bottom of the crankcase is the plug that will need to be removed to drain the oil from the crankcase. Anyone who owns this model dirt bike can complete this job in about 10 minutes.

Oil change on a 2003 yz250f.

the oil in the frame is pumped into the crankcase, i had the same problem so i asked at the yamaha dealers. the dipstick on the frame is for checking the oil and the plug on the crankcase is for filling it with oil. I believe it takes about 1liter of oil from other posts but i could be mistaken

2003 YZ 250 Oil Change

Use 10w40 in the gearbox. Get the oil from your Yamaha dealer along with any filter your bike may need. Some bikes use an oil change as the "filter". To drain oil, get the engine warmed up and turn it off. Put a pan under the gearbox and remove the oil drain plug. Replace the oil plug when the flow becomes a slow drip. Change oil in late spring, the middle of summer and in early fall. Remember to lube the chain and adjust it when needed. Lubricate the cables with liquid graphite. Lastly, install a stock spark plug. Now go for a ride.

Oil leaking out of overflow

just check the crankcase filter to make sure it isn't stopped up if it is that will make the crankcase build up pressure and blow the oil out
