Belt broke on Whirlpool elec. dryer. How to remove front panel?
The dryer heats up but does not tumble. I bought a replacement belt, but I am having trouble removing the front panel. The panel is attached to the dryer in several places and I am afraid that if I tug too hard I will break something off. Thank you.

Pull out the filter from the top and get those screws out that attach the filters housing to the top. Then get a putty knife and release this spring clips holding down the top. Then get the 2 screws off from inside and raise up an inch to release the panel clips. Use my handy belt routing GUIDE to see how dat old idler goes

Your belt either fell of or broke. Or the motor failed (There is a centrifugal switch on the side of the motor that may need love love or needs to be replaced)
More than likely it is the belt. The dryer has a motor that drives the drum usind a rubber belt that has probably broken. It is fairly easy to replace. Take top off dryer by lifting up top in front, (should be hinged) then you will see if belt is on or broken. Go to local appliance store with make and model number from your dryer and then you will have to lift drum out of case and put belt around it and replace. if you cannot reach belt to put around motor from top you will have to remove back access panel. Put belt on motor and dry away. Good luck.
the belt is off or broken, changing the belt yourself can be tricky, you must remove the front bulkhead and door/panel assy, then you have to route the belt correctly from th motor to the belt tensioner, you may want to call a tech.
If you need to replace the belt here's how: remove the front panel. you may need to remove a kick panel below the
front panel. the top panel connects to the front panel by some plastic
push in retainers (you can loosen them with a screwdriver) You need to
prop the top panel up. the belt goes over the top of the drum down to a
drive wheel that is located at the bottom of the dryer.
remove the lint fiter and remove the two phillips screws then lift the top up
you will find two screws on each side of the inside of the frount panel down about 4 inches , this when removed will allow you to swing the frount arround to gain access to the belt
stand that baby up!!! acess is from front, try removeig 2 screws from under lint filter and then pop top with screw driver lean top back.. youll see the tub and belt(if not broken right there),no belt??? order a 341241 whirlpool dryer belt. 2 5/16screws on either side of iside facade remoivefront caver, disconnect door switch and remove front panel. belt slips over drum , you need to reset tension pulley and wrap around motor shaft. .
