Weber carb fitted to a Ford Courier 3.4 ltr. engine has just started running away with high revs

Sounds like it's sticking. With the engine OFF, remove air filter and housing. Spray entire carborator liberally with carborator cleaner. Concentrate on all linkages, floats, and hinges. Start engine and see if this resolved the problem. If not, it may need to be rebuilt by an experienced mechanic.

1989 harley davidson heritage softtail carborator shooting oil

Shooting oil? Your engine is what we refer to as a "head breather". This is because the crankcase pressure is vented into the carburetor, by EPA requirements, through the two large hollow bolts on either side of the breather backing plate. They may be covered by rubber plugs but you can see them when you take the air filter off. Oil accumulation is normal but "shooting" is not. This would indicate a excessive buildup of oil in the rocker boxes and failure of the "umbrella valves" in the center section of the rocker box covers. I'd take the air filter cover off and clean it out thoroughly and see if it still did it. If so, you've got a problem with the crankcase venting system on the engine. Since I'm not that familiar with the Twin Cam engine, I'm reluctant to guess exactly what the problem is. In the older Evolution engines that I'm familiar with, I'd suspect the "breather gear" in the cam chest but I'm not sure the TC-88B engine uses this system. Sorry I can't be more specific.

good luck

Try to check the gasket and also check the carborator of your engine maybe you need to replace the gasket or the carborator but make sure to consult a mechanic.

OK i have a 91 honda civic hatchback and the engine was rebilt..it runs fine...however when i start it cranks for awhile before it starts...the starter and battery are fine however the carborator sticks...

That flap is automatic the choke. Not the throttle. Cleaning it should restore normal operation. Avoid spray plastic parts if there is any such as plastic bushing used in carburator linkage, other than that I cant think of any bigger underlying problem. Avoid prolonged high speed on rebuilt engines untill its broken in(500 miles)

Fuel not getting to carborator.

The filter is external. Located on the passenger side frame rail, about 4-5 ft from the tank. round, metal (or if previously replaced-- might be plastic). Are you sure you have a carb? 1988 models were throttle body type fuel injection. If it is TBI, you may not be getting power to the internal fuel pump. Are you seeing a fault code (the check engine light flashing)?
