Have a 2009 Saab 9.7x4,2i starter good alternater good but battery dies over night

Usual culprit is boot (Trunk) light.If not, try disconnecting battery and if a spark jumps as you take the lead off it shows there is a power drain. If no power drain it points to a faulty battery.

Our car tries to start and then drains battery and turns over just wont start

Check for spark at plugs, fuel pressure, compression test to see what area is failing.

I have a 24in snowblower with electric start a year old and cant start it manually or electric

Did you drain last years fuel out completely? That is usually the problem with small engines. Gasoloine has a shelf life of thirty days and then it starts to turn to varnish. When that happens everythinh in the fuel system gets coated. The carb will not work if it did start. If you did clean and blow out fuel before storage then check for spark. Pull the spark plug and keep it connected to the cable then fasten it somehow to the engine block (Vise-grips). Crank the motor and you should see spark on the plug. All this assuming your battery is good. Did it sit all summer in the heat? Have it checked for cranking amps and voltage. No spark means no ignition system. Spark but no start is fuel system but battery must be 100% before anything else.

2008 dr-z400sm. Always started first time, no problems. Bike has not been used for 3 weeks, battery has been on trickle charge. Bike will not start on choke, battery is fine, is it the carburetor - do I...

When not using your motorcycle on a regular basis, always put some fuel stabilizer in the gas. If the gas seems stale drain the tank and mix the old fuel with good fuel by in your automobile or lawnmower and burn it there (no waste). Put fresh fuel in the motorcycle tank. Try draining the carburetor bowl, pull the fuel line off at the tank, put a squirt of carburetor cleaner down the fuel line. Chevron Techron is an excellent fuel additive for cleaning up a gummy carburetor. Be sure and check the the spark plug in the motorcycle is sparking and not fouled. If you check the spark plug for spark right before you are going to try and start the bike, put an eye dropper full of gas into the spark plug hole right before you screw the plug in to prime the machine.

My car had a hard time turning over the yesterday and last night when i went to leave it wouldn't turn over at all what would cause this?

There are some possibilities which you will have to check in this case:--

1) First of all check the power and voltage to the battery. With meter it will show exact 12 volt if the battery is charged. If the voltage is less get the battery charged at local auto repair shop. If the battery is internally drained and not getting charged then its time to replace the battery.

2) When you crank the car do you see spark coming at the spark plug? If no then its time to check the spark plugs and coil pack. If the spark plugs are not worn out and looks new then its time to check coil pack. The spark plug gets power to spark from coil pack.

3) The other thing to check in this case is the starter solenoid of the car. If the battery is charged and you start the car then it gives power to the starter to start the car. But if starter is faulty or not connected properly then car will not start.

4) The other thing to check in this case is fuel in the car. If there is fuel in the car then check the blockages in the fuel pump if the fuel pump looks proper then check the fuel filter above the fuel pump.

5) If all the above possibilities mentioned above checked out OK/perfect then it's a electrical issue and the wiring's in the car needs to be checked. The car gets power from the battery to get started. so the wires from battery needs to be checked one by one.

Thanks. keep updated for any more can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

I have a kiddies 50cc two stroke no name brand bike there is spark, and petrol flow into the carb the reed valves is working well but still wont start

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Your post, there is spark, there is fuel to the carb; additional initial checks:
  • determine if their is fuel inside the bowl of the carb by loosening the drain screw and determining the quality and quantity of the drained / collected fuel;
  • determine if there is suction/vacuum by closing the carb opening with your palm. it should get wet with fuel on cranking/starting;
  • check for compression. Temporarily remove sparkplug, replace it with compression gauge and crank/start engine with throttle wide open (WOT);
  • check if the sparkplug gets wet with fuel.
Another possibility is that there is stale 2T oil in the crankcase below the piston. This would prevent ignition as the air/fuel mix inside the combustion chamber would not fir.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
