To change your oil you will need 4 quarts of oil, a filter, and a new aluminum drain plug washer. You can reuse the old drain plug washer if it has not been squished out of shape. Your motorcycle comes from Yamaha usually with 20w-40 mineral base motorcycle oil. You can use any oil that is JASO MA certified motorcycle oil. 10w-40 for cold climate. 20w-50 for warm climate/touring. Car oils use different additives and may cause scoring in certain types of cam bearings. Do not use any oil that says " Energy Conserving " on the label . It will shorten the life of your wet clutch and transmission gears. If you choose Synthetic oils, they will help your bike run cooler and shift easier. Pour in three quarts of oil and add enough from the fourth quart to reach the high mark on the dip stick or inspection window. Make sure the motorcycle is upright or on the center stand when checking the level . You will probably need 3.1 to 3.4 quarts to hit the high mark. Run the motor for a minute or two to fill the oil filter compartment with oil. Now recheck the oil level and top up as needed.

SOURCE: I just bought a 2008

Use 20w40 motor oil. NOT synthetic or oil with "special" additives. Many synthetics and additives can either shrink or swell the cork on the fiber friction plates in the clutch. If that happens, respectively, the clutch will not grab or will not release properly.

Hi,
When replacing for a bigger carb it must have its own manifold.
If the problem is the auto choke, it can still run w/o it, just make sure you plug that area. Just throttle up when starting and heat up the engine before running.
You did not mention the brand of the new carb.

Hope that helped you out!

My 2006 yamaha jog only wants to run for a couple seconds

if its watercooled jog rr the most likely problem will be the haed gasket leaking, these mopeds always suffer from that the gasket leak water into the combustion chamber and it starts briefly then wets the spark plug up and causes the spark plug to short out killing the spark.other than that it could be. carburettor jet blocked or the float in the carb badly adjusted .if it is the gasket leaking make sure you replace it with. genuine one or you will have the same problem again soon.trust me been there done that im a doctor.
