Question about Motorcycles

I have a r 1150gs 2000. Tester day i was riding at 110 km/h and the engine turned off. I am not able to start my GS since then. What could be the problem?

Now in some of the 1150 there is n in line fues..for the motor .threr is also a fues flue pummp .if you have chake that then i would c if maybe there is not some thing roung with ytouer fule stome.that about the best thing that i can tell you to do for now .unlast you csan gave me more imfo about the bike ok i hope this helps u out

The facts mentioned does convey that the engine is not tuned properly and so lack in performance.
I would request that the fuel settings be checked and corrected with a proper tuning of the fuel /air mixture.
The spark plug must be removed and checked as it will indicate the performance. It should be clean and not sooted . If not replace plug, set the correct gap. Now check the timing of the spark and set it .
The spark intensity and a correct fuel mixture will give you a good cold start and good performance.

I want to tune my 2000 1150GS. I have lots of popping on deccel. Plugs and cables are ok. Need to tune up by ear but not sure how. Any helpful links would be appreciated.Thank you

Tuning the 1150GS without a vacuum gauge is virtually impossible. There are 2 separate adjustments, one at idle and one at around 3000rpm that both need to be done correctly for the motor to run smoothly.

Do you have an aftermarket pipe on the bike?

Also, check the exhaust joint where the tail pipe joins the header. If that is leaking, it will account for a certain amount of popping on deceleration

Starter or bendix

Hi, Anonymous the starter drive/Bendix is a mechanical gear driven component that engages the clutch pack ring gear to turn over the engine. It has an internal mechanism that allows the gear to turn in one direction and once the engine starts allows the drive gear to free spin. If gear free spins in both directions then the drive gear has failed it is not serviceable and needs to be replaced. For more information about your issue, please visit the websites below. This is because you are giving the engine more full the engine is going faster and you should be going faster. RPM stands for revolutions per minuet.

Bike vibrating at 4000 - 5000rpm. Vibration goes away when pullling clutch. 2008 1200GS ADV

Hi, Acaprojects and the usual suspects are:
1. Wheels and/or tires worn or damaged.
2. Engine/transmission/vehicle not aligned properly.
3. Primary chain badly worn or links too tight as a result of insufficient lubrication or misalignment.
4. Engine to transmission mounting bolts loose.
5. Upper engine mounting bracket loose.
6. Ignition timing incorrect/poorly tuned engine.
7. Internal engine problem/flywheels shift.
8. Broken frame.
9. Stabilizer links worn or loose.
10. Rubber mounts loose or worn.
11. Rear fork pivot shaft nuts loose.
12. Front engine mounting bolts loose.

I just changed my fuel tank on my 1150gs to an adventure 30 litre tank, the bike is now running on one piston sometimes, any help would be welcome

Just happened to me. Check your right hand side throttle cable hasn't come out of the top hat just above the throttle body

When does the timing belt need to be replaced on a 2000 GS 300 with 55,000. Is it miles or years?

Most manufactures recommend changing the Timing belt at around 60,000 miles / 100,000 Km or 7 years, whichever comes first. They have been known to last a lot longer than that but it is cheaper to have it replaced than to risk critical and expensive engine damage if it breaks.

If you want to heat the bolts safely you can use a kettle of boiling water or two kettles of boiling water...
Once they are hot get the wrench on the bolts and pull with all your might!

Knocking in 1150gs engine, When riding loud knocking happened,returned staright away. Re-set valve clearances and did an oil change, saw some iron filings in oil. Took off r/h head and all looked OK....

take out con rods and check big ends i gess there now burt out though, if the oil pump packed up when you were riding it and you kept riding it its now a full engine rebuild, i gess this is were the iron filings come from or its from a piston tearing up and the rings have been ground up and forsed into the sump eather way its a big job now
