Clean the carbs and flush any fuel in the tank out. a good carb service will work wonders for you.

You will find the main jet in the carby is the problem, i had a similar problem with a yz426, cleaned the carby out several times but the actual jet somehow was damaged and ran fine once replaced

Your caption says misfires at high, then you say low? You have a 95. Lots of miles I assume. So there are several things that would cause misfires at high and low. First is timing chain/belt, sloppy. Second, would be the valves and rings. Valves worn or bent, not seating right. rings just worn out, not holding compression. Do a compression test and see. Low speed or idle misfires can be from vacuum leaks. check hoses. Low and high rpm misfires can be from ignition problems. Wiring, coil/s, ignition modules.

You are on the right track with the fuel system. Maybe the fuel filter, There is one in the tank also, I think. Try running on reserve if you have it.

Mower running to rich,need to adjust down fuel mixture,when mower is running out of fuel it runs better


Is this on idle, fast speed or both? From what I read adjust the high speed screw clockwise in small increments and see if that is better, what this does is lean the mixture. You don't want too lean a mixture as this could eventually damage the engine, so adjust the needle back and fourth until you get the engine running good. Once it is running just right turn it back 1/8 to 1/4 turn to make sure it is not too lean. If the engine stumbles when going to high speed adjust the low speed needle until the motor goes to high speed without missing, or hesitating. Hope this helps.

A good plan, but if the bike is already missing now and again, I would be tempted to strip and clean the carbs.
It would be worth cleaning the tank out as well.

The Valkyrie is notorious for burning the vacuum lines on the inside of the intake manifolds. They burn, get brittle, and break from back firing up the manifold caused typically by an aftermarket exhaust system. Stock bikes burn the tubes more slowly. Check all six tubes and replace this will probably solve the problem.

Fuel supply running out. Usually clogged filter. that allows enough gas through to run at lower rpms but not at high demand. Could be filter in tank, there is a mesh screen on the inlet to the fuel petcock. You would have to have some serious issues with rust in the tank or a batch of extremely bad gas for this to happen. I would look to see if you have an inline filter, I have no knowledge of that particular bike.

Bikes like yours with high horsepower output, a high revving engine, and relatively light weight are very sensitive when operated at low speed - and at low power settings. I have found that usually, after getting well acquainted with a particular bike, things become much easier have a fine control over. In the meantime, try running in higher - or lower gear, at that speed. Sometimes that can make constant throttle movements less necessary.
