Battery honda shadow

My battery died on my 2005 Honda Shadow 750. When I tried to jump it, I clamped the positive to the positive and the neutral clamped was touching both positive and neutral by accident; when I turned the ignition key. When that happened the lights flicked on and then off. After that I couldn't jump the battery. I replaced the battery, put the new battery in and it was fine. Rode around for the day, shut her down for about an hour, came back to it and the battery is dead again. Could I have damaged something when I jump started it and crossed my wires?

Could it be possible that the new battery is just dead from not being charged/sitting unused in a store somewhere? the alternator is responsible for charging the battery and providing power for the bike so check that. is it possible you blew a fuse or something on when you tried to jump the bike? im not really a pro those are just some thoughts. interesting problem.

SOURCE: Honda Shadow 600 c won't start in gear after battery change

The kickstand switch is either bad or bent out of position. See if you can activate the switch manually. Does the bike run now? If so, the switch is bent out of position. If it still won't run, jumper the wires together until you can replace the switch.

Your kickstand switch is either broken or out of position. The bike kills the engine as a safety feature if it thinks the sidestand is down and the bike is put in gear while the engine is running.

2005 Honda VT 750 DC Shadow Spirit will not turn over

Hi, Anonymous before testing any electrical component in the Starting System it is "IMPERATIVE" that you have a fully charged battery of 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage, the battery is faulty and must be replaced. AGM type batteries fall into this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter.
4. Bank angle sensor needs a reset or is faulty.
5. FOB battery low or dead.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand, clutch, neutral safety switch.
9. Security alarm needs a reset.
10. Starter relay, solenoid, starter motor or circuit wiring faulty.
11. Starter armature or field coils have failed.
12. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
13. Faulty ignition relay.
14. The electric starter is working but starter clutch has failed.
15. Check for engine trouble codes.

I have a 2005 Honda VT 750 DC Shadow Spirit, and won't start up when cold and the battery dies/no mo juice after a couple of tryes, can I jump start it with a battery on a idleing car?

DO NOT EVER jump start with car, car battery hase too much power, you will blow your fuses and maybe even ecu if your bika hase it. Thry charging your battery when it's off the bike. But you should buy new one.
Usually battery for bikes last 3-4 year and need to be changed.

Hello, I have a 2005 Honda VT 750 DC Shadow Spirit, and just got "tune up", but now it won't start when cold, is there a safe way to jump start it with car cables/battery?

jump starting of a car battery can cause a spike in the charge circuit, when the bike starts it can try to charge the car battery and fry the regulator. better to roll start and take it back to the tune up specialist
