SOURCE: Gas is coming out of the carburetor overflow hose

check for a bad float. a float with a hole in it will 'sink' and thus, not turn the gas supply off when required.

Let me know what you find.

SOURCE: where do all the hoses go to a suzuki quadrunner carb

There is one supply hose (larger) and a bunch of vent tubes. The vent tubes really don't matter how they are connected as long as they vent. The vents that point vertical - just loop the tube up and then down towards the ground.

Carburetor 3 hose hook up

Hi, Ken one hose goes from the fuel valve to the carburetor inlet nipple, one hose goes to the float bowl nipple and is run downward towards the ground and does not attach to anything this is an overflow line, the third hose could be for a vacuum or breather nipple on the carburetor and for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix/test or parts inquiry. If necessary transport your vehicle to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your issue. Good luck and have a nice day.

I have a Tecumseh OHV130 206810C. It sat idle for 2 years and was gummed up. Cleaned everything up but can only get it to run by spraying gas into the air intake. Could there be a fuel pump problem an

You follow the hose from the bottom of you fuel tank right to the fuel pump. If you don\'t have a pump, that same hose will go to your carburetor. Either way disconnect the hose from the carburetor. Put a can under hose and turn over engine. If gas flows your pump is OK. Next remove bowl off bottom of carburetor, ( with can under bowl), I believe you will find crap & water in the fuel bowl. I would drain all fuel from tank, hoses, and pump. Clean fuel bowl , you may need new bowl gasket, put in fresh fuel, try to start. Water in the fuel is a very common problem when you hear NO START. Caution when dealing with fuel, remember SAFETY, SAFETY, SAFETY, and did I forget to mention SAFETY. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

Hi, Divecop3 these tubes and hoses are for venting and must remain clear of obstruction and connection at one end otherwise the usual suspects are:
1. Idle circuit and transfer ports clogged.
2. Air fuel mixture adjustment too lean.
3. Pilot jet clogged.
4. Faulty accelerator pump.
5. Float level too low.
6. Float bowl contaminated old fuel, water, dirt, rust, etc.
7. Float bowl vent or overflow tube clogged.
8. Fuel flow to carburetor restricted.
9. Intake manifold leak.
10. The gas cap is not venting properly or fuel tank venting system blocked.
11. Vacuum line from intake manifold to petcock broken, cracked, or not attached, carburetor vent line plugged.
12. Needle and seat stuck closed in the float bowl.
13. Multi carburetors not in sync.

I just bought a 2001 Hd sportster and noticed a disconnected vaccum line coming from behind the air filter and routed to the front of the bike. I am assuming it goes to the VOES switch but I can not locate...

Usually the VOES switch is located between the cylinders right on the top engine mount. It's a black thing with two wires and a vacuum line coming off of it. On the later models, the VOES may be mounted a bit higher. The vacuum line for the VOES and the vacuum operated petcock (if it's the original petcock) comes off the backside of the carburetor, not the air filter. If the hose goes to the backside of the air filter, it's likely something to do with the emissions system. It probably routes evaporative vapors from the fuel tank to the air filter to be run through the engine. To see what the VOES switch looks like, go to and put the information on your bike in and look under electrical section.

Good Luck

Which fuel hose go to the top of the carb and which to the bottom? Which lines from the prime bulb go where? Replacing the bulb and all fuel lines.

Hi ibcasady...

The bottom fuel tank line runs to the bottom connection, the top fuel tank line runs to the top...
Test it to make sure that is the right direction, and that the carburetor is being primed with fuel...if not reverse the hoses.

I had to replace the fuel lines on my Craftsman model 358798940 leaf blower and i'm not sure how they hook up on the carburetor, 1 line runs from the fuel tank fliter to the carburetor and the other...

The fuel hose from the tank with the filter on the end goes to the main fuel inlet on the carb, this is the conection closest to the alloy pump cover held with a single screw, the other conection on the carb has a hose to the short conection on the back of the primer ( the suction side ) the longer conection on the primer ( pressure side ) has a hose back to the tank, this pipe just pushes into the top of the tank, just remember the primer pulls fuel from the carb, into the bulb, and back to the tank, not the other way round.

My husband just got a suzuki savage and had to take carburator apart there is 2 hoses that he cant find where they go please help!!

If they are small tubes , the one on the side is probably just a float bowl vent and goes to the front of the rear wheel. The one on the bottom of the carburetor bowl is the drain hose for the bowl and goes to the front of the rear wheel. The vent and drain line just hang in front of the rear wheel and do not connect to anything.
It is possible that one of the lines is a vacuum line and does actually have to plug into a vacuum fuel petcock. If this is the case the fuel will not flow to the carburetor unless the line is hooked up. Hope this helps.

From the tank (filter on free end) to carburetor.
Carburetor to primer (primer draws fuel from tank through carburetor.
Primer to tank. (excess fuel returned to tank)
Without seeing a like saw logic says the upper carb fitting goes to the primer (draws the air out) If one is larger than the other the larger is probably the fuel feed (tank).

The oiler hose pressurizes then depressurizes the oil pump. That is what pumps the oil. HTH

I had to replace the primer bulb on my saw , when I started I found the hoses were all dry rotted and crumbled , I know one hose goes from the bulb to the carborator, the other hose goes from the gas tank...

One line from the tank (that has a filter on the end in the tank) is the main supply to the carburetor. The other line in the tank has no filter and is the outlet side of the primer pump. There is also a line between the carburetor and the primer inlet side. The primer is supposed to **** fuel from the tank, through the carburetor and back to the tank. The main supply line is usually a little bigger than the primer pump lines. The tank should be vented through a separate screened hole or a vented tank cap.
