Without a/c on run till temp is normal then raise the idle to about 1000 rpm if its not on by 208-210 you have a problem check fan relay.becareful because if they are not working it will go from 210 to 230 quick.

Why does my fan always run intermittently? During traffic jams my fan will run about 25 times intermittently, and I check my temperature it is still normal?

sounds like problem with the temperature sensor or relay that controls the fan(if electric) check the sensor and relay one may need to be replaced.

please follow this steps and fix it.
A fan failure, or a failure of the fan relay or control circuit is bad news because it can allow the engine to overheat.
Five things may prevent an electric cooling fan from coming on:
  • Defective temperature switch or coolant sensor
  • Engine thermostat is stuck OPEN (engine never gets hot enough to turn on the fan)
  • Failed fan relay
  • A wiring problem (blown fuse, loose or corroded connector, shorts, opens, etc.)
  • Bad fan motor
ELECTRIC COOLING FAN QUICK CHECKS.
One way to quick check the fan circuit is to start the engine and turn on the A/C to max. If the fan runs, the fan motor, relay, fuse and wiring are all okay. But this test doesn't show if the temperature switch or temperature sensor and PCM are energizing the fan when coolant temperatures are high.
To check the temperature at which the fan comes on, turn the A/C off and keep the engine running until it reaches normal operating temperature. Most fans should come on when the coolant reaches about 200 to 230 degrees. If the fan does not come on, something in the control circuit is defective. Resistance checks should then be made on the temperature sensor or switch, and a voltage check on both sides of the relay (you will probably need a wiring diagram of the fan cooling circuit on your vehicle to identify the relay terminals and wiring connections).
The fan motor itself can be checked by using jumper wires. Unplug the wiring connector on the fan, and use the jumper wires from the battery to route power directly to the fan. If the fan motor is good, the fan should spin at normal speed when supplied with 12 volts. Noisy bearings or a slower than normal speed would indicate a worn motor.

Radiator fan will not shut off

In some vehicles, the radiator cooling fan is controlled independently by a thermostatic switch. What you perceive as a problem actually is normal operation. When the temperature reaches a certain point, the fan turns on. When you stop and turn off the ignition, the fan continues to run until the temperature decreases to a point where the fan turns off

Engine fan not turning on till engine way hotter than normal

If your engine cools to normal temperature after the coolant fan runs you probably have no problem. The fan shouldn't come on until the temperature reaches at least 210%. If it's going well over 220% before the fan comes on you need to change the temperature sensor.

How you know if you need a cooling fan relay

If your cooling fan is running all the time or if the cooling fan does not turn on when engine temperature is at normal or higher than normal temperature. It is possible in cold weather the fan may not turn on often.

Why does the engine fan NOT turn off on my 2002 Jaguar S Type 4.0 liter? It runs for several minutes after turning the car off and will come on while driving. I just replaced the sensor and it is still...

It would not be abnormal, so long as the fan does not come on when you switch on from cold. The fan's job is to draw air through the radiator to cool the contained liquid to a suitable working temperature. The fans sensor is activated by the temperature of the coolant. If this is a problem which worries you, try driving as gently and slowly as possible for the last mile or two of your journey. If things are normal the fan should not run on switch-off as that 'trick' will have allowed the coolant to get below the fan-kick-in temperature before you stop the engine. If your vehicle has a temperature gauge use the rteading as an indication.

Engine fans come while driving then after a little while they go off and that happen every so often.

This should be normal operation of the fans they do not run all the time as most people think as the engine temperature increases the fans will come on to help cool down the engine once the temperature decreases then the fans will cut off and it will continue to cycle that way there is nothing wrong with that its normal. You will notice however that when you turn on the A/C the fan will turn on and stay on till you turn off the A/C this is also normal some vehicle have two fans one for the A/C the other for engine cooling unless your engine is getting too hot then they will both come on but normally one is for the engine cooling the other for the condenser A/C and this one will only come on when the A/C is running.

REPLACE THERMOSTAT.ITS STICKING CLOSE TO KEEP COOLANT FROM CIRCULATING THROUGH ENGINE AND RADIATOR. THE FANS SHOULD COME ON WHEN VECHICLE SETTING AT A LONG IDLE.THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR GET TO CERTAIN TEMPERATURE WHICH WILL COMPLETE CIRCUIT PCM SEND POWER TO COOLANT SENSOR THEN TO COOLANT FANS RELAYS AND FANS.IF VECHICLE OVER HEATING WHILE MOVING THERMOSTAT FAULTY.IF YOU TURN AC AND COOLANT FANS DONT RUN CHECK COOLANT FANS FUSE AND RELAY.IF COOLING FANS DONT TURN ON WITH AIR CONDITIONER ON EITHER COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR FAULTY OR PCM FAULTY.IF ALL LOOKS GOOD.IF ENGINE OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK SHAKE.YOU HAVE BLOWN HEAD GASKET.

Fan turns on and off all the time

It is normal for the fan to cycle between on and off even though the temperature gage reads normal.
Anytime the coolant temperature rises by approximately 10 degrees above the normal operating temperature the fan cycles on but you won't notice the gage show that small of an increase.
