Dash and tail lights are out but bike powers on..accidentally crossed wires installing fender eliminator

Accidently crossed led hot with bikes neutral wire while the bike was on

The FI message means the computer detects a problem with your fuel injection system. Problems with the power commander can cause this message, to troubleshoot it I would start by removing the power commander. You can also try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes (15 or so) to reset your bikes computer.

You are missing you rear turn signals. Yes there should be a flasher but it requires all lights to be working before it will flash. It needs the original loads on the system. If led sights are installed they should be accompanied by loads that fool the flasher into thinking that the original bulbs are still there.

Obviously the CDI is picking up power from the starter button. Check the ignition key switch for proper operation. Chances are that whatever fried the loom also fried part of the switch. Alternate to that, trace the wire powering the CDI system, disconnect it at the source (starter button connection), then find a power source that is live only when the key is turned on and then hook the CDI wire up there.

The simple answer is yes it can be done - and it need not be a nightmare. You need to teach yourself a little more about how the GS engine runs - stator- r/r - ignightor - timing - coils - plugs. It may well be that a loom from the same engine would be helpfull, but it will require some mods to avoid some of the GS wiring pitfalls, which is why we GS owners modify them to give maximum power to the coils for full spark. Blikers only work with running lights off

You have the tail light you just installed wired wrong or if the new tail light is a LED tail light your looking at the LED's possibly not drawing enough power to make the flasher work. change the flasher to a LED specific one.

Keep blowing fuse for running lights on trunk, fender marker lights, tail light and front turn signal running lights. can't find bare wire anywhere.

Not necessarily a bare wire. Could just be a slight broken spot in the insulation. Check the wiring inside the rear fender. Sometimes the tire gets into the wiring harness and chews things up a bit. This usually happens on lowered bikes.

You may also have blown a fusable link (they are hard to locate without a wiring diagram for that bike. It is also possible that there may be one mistake in the install... go over every step carefully again to make sure it was done exactly as instructed. Also make sure that you have a proper ground for this particular modification. You may have the hot current hooked up properly but no ground.

The tail light bulbs are constantly going bad. Dealer went through the wiring harness, could not find a problem, says it's just bulbs. Too many are going bad, there has to be another reason. Help?

Vibration. Most of the bulbs that I've seen out have been due to vibration shaking the filaments out of the bulbs. Start your bike's engine and stand behind it and watch the rear fender. Does it shake a lot? The small filament in the bulb glows red hot when it's shining. When it's this hot, it will break very easily. If you have a standard incandescent light bulb in a lamp in a trouble light in your shop, turn it on and drop the light. Even though the bulb does not break, the bulb will usually blow. This is due to the filament breaking because of the jar due to the drop. Maybe you should ask about changing to LED bulbs. I don't think you need a load equalizer for a tail light or brake light. Turn signals, you do.

My dash lights went out and at the same time my running day lights in the back and front went out as well. But all my brake lgihts still work..And i already checkd all my fuses and the in line fuse and...

The fuse that works the tail run lights also powers up the fuse going to the dash lights. That fuse is hot all the time and it goes to the headlight switch the switch can be bad but so can the connection to the switch and the connector to the steering collum. Test light should find two wires hot with the key off and another comes on with the key (turn signals) with the switch on two more wires will go hot (high or low beam and the tail lights) if they don't add power with a jumper wire and see what comes on there are no wires that will hurt any thing by adding power to the switch wires but one of them should turn on the tails and dash oncew you find this wire the switch should turn this wire on too if it doesnt and theres two wires hot with the key off and the switch off then the switch is bad install a new one and it'll work good

Dash lights and tail lights not working after accident!

If it is just the dash and the tail lights then the small light fuse under the hood right side must be blowing.  There must be a short somewhere.  I had this problem recently.  you need to look for the short in some odd places.  there is a known defect in the sunvisors that can pinch wires and short this fuse.  In my case the car stereo had a stray wire that was the problem. I think its the #15 fuse under the hood

I need to connect a led light for the number plate to the bike and i dont know how and where to wire it too

Connect this across the same wires that go the tail light. Find the wire that powers the running light bulb, not the stop light!
You can find which is which by just pushing the wires of your LED into the connector plug for the tail light.
With LED it is important to wire the plus to plus and minus to minus.
So black to black, then test the other two potential wires (with igniton on) to see which is hot, without touching the brake.
Once you identify the correct wires to splice to, make a permanent connection to the wires.
Positaps - are a great connector for this kind of connection - you can get those at your local autoparts store.
