Recheck the timing after you replaced the belt as I suspect that you are out a tooth or two.

SOURCE: bogs down at high rpm

check for fuel flow from the tank . check for blocked fuel filter. check that the choke butterfly is not being allowed to close at high air flow causing the engine to flood.

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely drained or faulty battery.
2. Faulty regulator/rectifier or high output coil.
3. Faulty power valve, solenoid or installation.
4. Clogged air filter or exhaust.
5. Cracked or incorrect float level.
6. Float needle is not seating.
7. Faulty reed valve.
Good luck and have a wonderful day.

My serpentine belt broke while driving a 1995 ford escort the car died is this normal

You should be able to replace the belt and be running again. If you ran the engine for a long time or high RPM without the belt, you may have overheated it and caused additional problems - but you'd probably gotten a high temperature warning light if that were the case. The serpentine belt provides a way to transfer mechanical energy from the engine to the alternator, power steering pump, A/C condenser, smog pump, water pump, etc. Once that belt breaks - all of these devices cease to function (even though the engine is still running) and will cause the engine to stop eventually.

If you broke a timing belt - that would be a different story - if the engine is an "interference" or a "zero tolerance" type. The valves inside the engine would be crushed by the pistons immediately - rendering the engine in need of some very expensive repairs or complete replacement. Timing belts generally need to be replaced every 50,000 - 60,000 miles (or 5 years - whichever happens first or as outlined in your owner's manual). Engines with timing chains do not require replacement as a regular maintenance item.

Good luck!

Yamaha c3 cranks but wont start quit while running

23,000 on any scooter is "high miles" probably needs new piston rings, bearings, etc. Check your compression! You should be over 100 psi. Was it smoking more than usual? I would start out with checking your compression though. you can rent out a tester at any parts store. Hope this helps you out.

The timing belt in my 2001 pt cruiser is broken. Did this cause any damage to the engine? or do we just need to replace the timing belt

Its got damage, bent valves. replace every thing on timing belt, tensioner, pulleys, water pump. The head needs to go to a machine shop and bent valves replaced.

Try a new belt, it may look fine but can be polished and have no grip left.

Hey Mj, you seem to know your stuff--it sounds like the drive belt broke. You can get a repair manual on amazon for approx. $15 plus shipping. It would be a great help w/ pictures and how to maintain and fix the scooter. But if you're going to dump it, u probably shouldn't invest in it. I don't know the exact model you have, but belts seem to run $20 and up. Unfortunately I don't know how difficult it is to replace. I'm sure it"s a $100 fix @ the shop.
Good Luck! countrycurt0
