SOURCE: Hi I have a 1995 heritage softail

sounds like you may have an intake leak. with the bike running spray a little starting fluid on the intake manifold but make sure you dont spray it into the back of air cleaner as this will give you a false reading. if the idle changes when you spray starting fluid on the intake manifold then you have an intake leak and need to replace the intake manifold gaskets. God luck let me know what you find

SOURCE: What is the correct air

Correct tire pressure - 30 PSI in the front
36 PSI rear single rider
40 PSI rear two up riding

Always refer to the side wall of the tire for air pressure. You may not be running Dunlop tires.

SOURCE: were is the fuel filter

Filter is in the fuel tank attached to the fuel petcock. Check your intake gaskts for an air leak. Get the bike running and squirt some brake clean near the intake seals and see if the bike dies or idle increases, but dont squirt too much to get sucked in the air cleaner. Also check the vacuum lines going from the fuel petcock to the carb for dry rotted or loose connections.

I doubt you're going to find a video of the oil being changed on a Softail. To change the oil on your Softail, look at the oil tank from the right side of the bike. At the lowest point on the backside of the tank, you'll see a large hose coming from the tank and running down behind the transmission. The hose comes back out from behind everything at the lower part of the frame behind the exhaust pipe and looks like it connects to a crossmember of the frame at the bottom. Feel underneath the crossmember directly underneath the hose and you'll feel a drain plug. Remove the plug and the oil drains out of the tank.

Good Luck

2006 softail delux back firing and missing when you hold throtle

1) Throw a full or 1/2 can of Seafom (found in most auto stores) into the tank, then go riding.
2) if that doesn't clear this up, drain the tank and add new gas, plus half a can of Seafom, then go riding.

Hi Sylvain:
Assuming the spark plug is good, I would pull the flywheel and look for a partially sheared key.

That is a carburetor issue, possibly TPS, or lean midrange condition.

I have a 2005 softail, after riding for about a half hour, whenever i need to slow down or stop the bike will sputter, cough and die, if i feather the throttle to keep it going it still cuts out and dies...

Hi Kmeyer6595, and the usual suspects are:
1. Idle speed improperly adjusted.
2. Intake manifold air leak.
3. Loose low speed jet.
4. Contaminated or plugged low speed system.
5. Enrichner valve not seated or leaking.
6. Leaking accelerator pump.
Good luck and have nice day.

I have two codes that come up for my 2005 dodge

Multiple miss-fire and miss-fire on #5. I would first change the sparkplugs then replace the distributor cap and rotor. There is a good chance this will fix the problem, but no guarentees.
