I painted light gray that now looks lavender on the wall...I am pretty sure it is the lighting in the room (CFL bulbs) as when I take the roller into another room with natural light or fluorescent lighting...

I painted for many years. And now work with photoshop each day.
The selected grey was probably in the blue family instead of yellow family. Most interior colors look better if they come from the warm yellow family, including greys.
There are greys for every color in the spectrum ... from yellow to red to blue. If you pick a grey with bit of red, it will start to look mauve. Orange and it will look brown. Blues inside the grey will turn purple real quick.
Moreover, all colors and finishes are contextual and pick up surrounding colors. Especially satin-or-shiny finishes, because they pick up local colors that change intended hue. For example blue drapes will turn white room bluish. If the house next door is red, and the light comes in window, it will turn white room into pink. Green leaves, and the light from window turn white room green. So when you pick a grey that has bit of blue, the color can change for many reasons beside light bulb. Each room is totally different.
Most folks pick colors by looking at color chip in the store, instead of painting a section of wall inside home. And most folks do not ask the paint store clerk which tints are in that particular color. Sometimes the black tint will turn some bases into a bluish hue.
Go back to paint store and get another grey color from the yellow spectrum.

Top five colours

The top five colours used in Web Design and marketing are 1. Black 2. White 3. Grey 4. Blue and 5. Green Red is a close sixth, but not nearly as common. Really, it all depends on what the website is designed for, and how much attention you want it to obtain :) Red, although not heavily used, is what they call an "Impulse color" int he retail chain, that is why all those store shelves by the door are painted red...They attract your attention. The same way you're more likely to speed in a red car. The color gives you an increased response to it than most others.

To my astonishment, my Yamaha dealer says he cannot supply touch up paint due to EC regulations on transport. I'm told by a paint expert he can supply paint if I have the paint code. The bike is an FZ6...

Go to any paint store that sells auto paint and have it matched up. I had them match up my faded Cougar and it was a perfect match, bought one qt no problem. I don't know the paint codes, but they have them. Hope this helps.

How to install front bumper cover on 2001 BMW E39

Installation of the Molding
Take the Molding Trim whether it is stock black or painted. Mine is black because my car is a year 2000. Painted side moldings were done in the year 2001. Snap them into place.
dscn5738%20copy.jpg 5 Installation of the Rubber Gaskets
From the stock bumper, retrieve the upper rubber gaskets unless you ordered new ones. Simply take a screw driver and pry a corner off to get you started. Wash thoroughly. NOTE which one belongs on which side.
Place the rubber gasket on the M5 Front Bumper onto its appropriate side. Top dscn5717%20copy.jpg The M5 Bumper is now Fully Assembled!!! Place aside where it can't be damaged.

Drip pans no longer available in black, just in grey

Yes you can spray paint them black. Just be sure to get high temperature black paint, like what you might use for a gas grill. Home Depot, Lowes, most any hardware store will have it in stock.

Losing green / torquoise tones

I'm betting you just have to adjust the white balance properly.  The D80 allows you to set the white balance against a grey target.  There are two ways of doing this.  First, you can put a reference grey target right on the painting, set it, and then remove the target while using the white balance you just set.  Alternatively, you can cover the lens with a diffuser of some sort, like a piece of white paper and hold the camera right where the painting will be, but pointed back towards where the light is coming from so that the diffuser is being bathed in that same light.
In case you don't know how to set the preset white balance, I suggest checking the manual.  I use a D70s, so the procedure may be very slightly different on the two cameras, but the idea is the same.  The key is that if you do this, you are pretty much guaranteed to get proper colors every time - not just now, but anywhere.  I do this often.  All that is required is a perfectly neutral patch (white to black, but with no color at all) that is being lit with the same light as you are trying to photograph in.  It takes about 5 seconds and presto - perfect white balance.  Note that this is for making pictures that look EXACTLY LIKE THEY WOULD IN PURE WHITE LIGHT.  So, it isn't for capturing proper sunsets, etc.
Good luck.
