SOURCE: isn't starting. battery isn't getting a

Your battery MOST LIKELY has lost some of the battery cells, which will cause it to get a partial charge which will show it as a FULL charge when in fact it isn't getting a full charge. You should try taking it to get the battery tested and they can tell you if it needs to be replaced. I would guess they are going to replace it for you. A new battery should run around $90 for a motorcycle. Let me know if this helps you out. Jeff from fixya

Starter wont engage after replacing dead battery

Check power to starter motor solenoid, solenoid operation and starter motor voltage during cranking. If the starter motor is receiving power from the solenoid, but isn't cranking, then replace the starter motor.

Also check the condition of battery terminals, wiring and connections. Also check the earth wire from the body to the engine.

My 2008 silverado won't start battery is charged

No, it isn't an ignition issue.

Check power to the starter motor solenoid.
If this is getting power when cranking, then the issue is with the starter motor solenoid or starter motor. Replace.

MY PLYMOUTH GRAND VOYAGER 'S HEADLIGHT'S AND DASH LIGHTS WORK, BUT THE ENGINE WON'T TURN OVER. THERE IS NO SPARK COMING FROM THE ELECTRICAL WIRES.

When you say no spark, are you talking about the spark plugs, or just the general wiring?

If the engine won't turn over, then it isn't moving, and if it isn't moving then you need to check the following in this order:

1) Does the battery have power i.e. around 12.4 volts or over? No? Charge, test or replace battery.

2) Do the car's head lights dim considerably if turned on when attempting to crank? Yes? Possible lack of battery charge or faulty battery.

3) Assuming the battery is fine, can you turn the dash warning lights on and off with the key? No? Faulty ignition switch.

4) Is there a click sound when you turn the key, but no starter motor spin? Check starter motor connections or replace starter motor.

If none of the above prove to be of help, then please report.

I have a 2001 dodge intrepid. new battery. new starter. Cleaned all connections. I hit the key and starter whines but does not engage?

First make sure that the new battery has plenty of charge, and isn't faulty.
The starter motor uses a solenoid to engage with the engine. If the starter is spinning, but doesn't connect, it may mean that the solenoid isn't receiving power, or that it is faulty. If you are confident with mechanics, you could take it out, run it unmounted. Then you could see clearly if the solenoid is engaging or not.

Your battery is to low on power it needs a good charge, or replace it is the best option for a brand new one!

2005 sedona won't start all of a sudden. Doesn't make a sound except for a tiny whirring sound like the feul injectors. Replaced starter...still won't start. checked all fuses...they are good....

you could just have dead cell in the battery which isn't getting enough amps to the starter,, have the battery LOAD checked,, that will tell you if the battery is actually good, just because it registers 12 volts isn't necessarily an indication that the required amps are present.

Whe i turn key the ignition lights come on but when i turn it again to start it the engin dose not turn over you get no sound from under the bonnet

It sounds like your battery is dead. The lights don't take much power to come on, but as soon as you turn the key to start the engine the starter doesn't have enough power to turn over. Take your battery to a Autozone or similar and have the battery load tested and tested for bad cells. You can also check the voltage level of the battery although this isn't a clear indicator of a bad battery unless it is below 12 volts. If it shows around 12 volts, have the battery tested. If the battery checks out, have your starter tested.

Engine is a re-build done less than 100 miles, was starting ok but now it wont turn just continuous clicking like starter wont engage!

Sounds like the battery isn't charged enough to power the starter.
Take the battery off and charge it properly with a proper battery charger.
Refit and it should be fine.
If not, it's new battery time.
