If you own a motorcycle, wouldn't you own/buy
a service manual from a dealer or ask there about one

2 stroke or 4? if 2 stroke definitely jetted wrong choking makes it rich tells me your main jet is too lean (smaller hole) you need to pull carb check jets for plugage clean jets write down numbers check dealer for correct jet size for your elevation if 4 stroke back fire thru carb indicates timing is off or bad intake valves or cam lobe worn

Why is my bike backfiring?

a back fire on a bike is usually the cause of timing being out or damaged carburettor ( too much petrol going through ) in the case of the carb you can adust the air screw to see if that helps ( small screw in the side of the carb ) screw it right in and then bring it out 1 and a half turns ,this will get you very close to the right mixture. in the case of timing being out you will need to take the fly wheel off and adjust the stator plate ( turn it to the timing marks ) as a rule its usually . back fire through the exhaust is timing, back fire through the carb is fuel mixture. if you rev it when it starts and it pops through the exhaust the problem is within the fly wheel . if it pops through the carb the problem is with mixture.

Why is the engine firing up through air intake

Sounds like your timing is out..or the valve slap needs adjusted..When this happens the inake valve is partly open during the firing stoke allowing some of the exaust to go back through the intake..and out the carb..good good luck

Just put in dist. back fires through carb.

Sounds like you have the distributor on tooth advanced. Pull the cap and with the timing mark at TDC make sure the rotor is pointing at #1 spark plug wire. If not, either pull the distributor and set it so it does point at #1 or rotate the wires one spot.

FC420V Kawasaki back fires thru carb on cold start, runs and starts fine after difficult startts

It sounds like your valves may need to be adjusted...
if they are too lose or worn they won't seat properly and when the engine fires it blows back through the intake valve.
pull the cover and see if the rockers are loose... it only takes one to give you a headache.

Why does my 03 holden rodeo back fires & misfires under load, i have replaced sparkplugs but still slugish?

It sounds like your engine needs a tune up, the timing may be off and the carb may need adjusting to get the fuel mixture correct.

Knocking/pinging sound when stepping on the gas for power.

you will distroy the engine if you continue to let this noise happen.
the timing must be retarded to get the ping out if its that bad.
most of the time if its just a little bit though filling the tank with super unleaded will take out the noise.
the distributer must be loosend and turned in the correct way to ****** the timing and the idle must be put back up to compensate.
the distributer is the ignition timing.
the other thing that could have happend is the timing may have jumped time on the timing belt itself.this is a complely different timing.
this timing is valve timing.
the distributer is ignition timing.
when the distributer is turned you are changing the ignition timing .
you say in your text and i quote .

The service tech only adjusted the distributor fas far as he could to lower the idle.

a tech should never be turning the distributer to lower the idle nor should this be explained in any way to the customer.

if a tech says he dosent understand something stop them rightaway and get your car out of there or get someone else to talk to .
10 times out of 10 if the tech dosnet get it the car wont get it either.
have a competent service tech test and conferm the timing belt or chain timing .

keep me posted

1986 gpz 1000 rx...engine knocks at start up...only in idle...give it gas it goes away until the the engine goes back to idle...even after about a half hour of running...knocking is still there..nut only...

86gpz, hmmmm probably has hydraulic valve lifters or tappets. probably one is not working, maybe a piece of dirt in the release valve. Probably not serious. May even go away suddenly.
Repair is extensive. Run it till it dies.
