SOURCE: 1982 Yamaha Seca Turbo (XJ650LJ) Had the carbs

Mine was stored for 20 years, I ended up replacing the seat and needles, cleaning them thoroughly and when I tried starting it, nothing!! No gas was going to the carbs, it turned out to be my gas pump, it was seized by the old gas remains 'varnish' so I had to clean it numerous times, soaked it in gas cleaner (short period at a time 15 minutes or so, being a very powerful cleaner, you cannot leave it for long without causing greater problems, thus I was able to get the pump going by boosting it with my car batterie, having more cranking amps directly to the pump, the pump was able to release itself from the old crusty varnish.

SOURCE: Small gas leak on 2005 Honda VTX1300R

I would suspect and look for any cracked or damaged rubber or other flexible type gas line/s from or to the tank, and where they connect to. That would be the 1st most probable location of leaks. Then the tank or carburetor/injectors.

2001 kawasaki zx-7s won't start cleaned carb replaced hoses it started up after all this but now a week later the bike won't start and there is no leaks

Try this; in the event of a crash(or removing carbs) there is a magnetic charge that closes the needle valve preventing fuel flow. You may have to demagnetize the carb by grounding the frame. Usually, you can do this by running a wire from the carb to earth. Hope this helps.

Yamaha YBR Custom 125 won't start after sitting idle for 4 weeks. Blockage in fuel pipe?

Fuel does "go off" but it won't happen in just 4 weeks. But, the battery will lose some of its charge in that time. Charge the battery and try again. Good luck.

2000 gsxr600y Flat spots and rough running at 8 and 11 thousand rpm, won't pull passed 11000 from 4th gear up as running so rough

Full disassemble of carbs is needed. Thorough cleaning on jets and airways, vacuum and pilot screw adjustment must be done too.
Check the spark plugs for lean mixture indication and replace them if necessary.

I have a 1998 suzuki marauder and it will turn over and fire with starter fluid, but it won't even try without it. There's gas in the lines going to the carbs but I can't figure out why it...

Hi,
has the bike sat for any length of time? If so, the carbs need cleaned. Regardless of what you put in the tank, they'll need to be removed and cleaned. Since the bike is 14 years old, I'd guess they're due.

Also, check the petcock and tank for rust.

07 Ninja won't start

sitting is the worst thing for a bike. you have a bad battery. if you have to leave the bike for a long time, put it on a battery tender or at least start it up once a week. the gas will go bad in the fuel system and the battery will fail. also, when you get a battery, make sure to get a good one from the dealer, dont get the cheap ones from walmart or autozone. a factory battery will last 2-5 years. you will be lucky to get 1 year from a cheap battery.

I have a 2009 Buell Blast with 38 original miles on it. I rode it three weeks ago and it started and ran fine. It sat in the garage for a week or so and wouldn't start. It does not have a fouled...

First, what color is the fouling on the plug? Obviously the plug will need to be changed. It almost sounds like there is something mixed in with the gas causing the plug to build up. IUf the bike has been sitting for a long time with the same gas in it - have the gas tank emptied(it needs to be taken off the bike and flushed out) and have the carburetor cleaned too.

Bike wont start if not started for a couple of weeks very hard to get going cranks over but wont fire

If, at any point, your bike has sat for more than about a year, the carburetors could have clogged jets. That means that the carbs will have to be disassembled and cleaned.
Otherwise, make sure the choke is operating fully and that there isn't any excess slack, or free play in the choke cable. Take out any excess free play by using the adjuster on the choke cable.
