Carburetor cleaning there is a missing in my bike.. the bike gets stoppedalso sometimes like missing and its like not having fuel to run what is the remedy for this

Why won't my bike run when it gets warmed up?


Try checking the choke to see if it is sticking. Add a bottle of carburetor cleaner to the gas and see if you can free up the internal workings of the carburetor and possibly clean it. You could have a clogged jet. Depending on how old your bike is and how bad the gas you have been running in it, your fuel filter could also be clogged. If the fuel filter is full of gunk, drain your tank, replace the fuel filter and fill the tank with clean gas.

Hi, Anonymous always check fuel flow first to isolate the problem area otherwise the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. Fuel cap or fuel tank not venting properly.
3. Fuel filter clogged with rust or dirt.
4. Vacuum line to fuel valve clogged, cracked, pinched, bent, broken, or missing*
5. Faulty vacuum line switch/relay
6. Petcock clogged or diaphragm cracked, cut or torn*
6. Fuel line from the fuel valve/petcock to the carburetor clogged, cracked, pinched, bent, broken, or missing.
7. Vacuum lines to the mechanical fuel pump clogged, cracked, pinched, bent, broken or missing*
8. Faulty electric fuel pump and or wiring*
9. Fuel line from the fuel pump to the carburetor clogged, cracked, pinched, bent, broken, or missing*
10. Carburetor inlet fitting clogged.
11. Carburetor float and or needle and seat stuck.
12. Carburetor overflow line clogged, pinched, or bent.
13. Vacuum line from carburetor deacceleration valve not zipped tied*

My 2006 katana starts up runs for a while then shuts off


Has the bike been sitting for a while? If it has, then the carburetor(s) probably needs serviced. It might also be a clogged fuel strainer (usually located in the tank) If the service history of this bike is unknown, then check for a really dirty air filter(s). Try to keep the bike running by giving it some throttle. If it stays running, then the carburetor(s) will probably need to be cleaned and rebuilt. If it still shuts down, then verify fuel flow. Disconnect the fuel line from the carburetor(s) and observe fuel flow when the fuel valve is turned on. Fuel should flow out in a steady stream. If it doesn't, then clean the strainer. If it does, then drain the fuel out of the tank reconnect the line(s) and refill the tank with fresh fuel. If the bike has been sitting for a while, you could have a fuel volatility problem. I have 1981 Honda CX500C motorcycle. You know the overflow hose that runs out the bottom of the carb back behind the engine by the center stand. Well the other day I noticed gas pouring out of that hose...


The carburetor over flow tubes should be open. Here are the possibilities. 1)Your carburetors are dirty and need to be cleaned. Clean your carburetors. 2)Your carburetor float needles are damaged and causing the carburetors to over flow. Replace your float needles. 3) The fuel filter is missing on the fuel petcock and rust is causing the carburetors to overflow gas. Put the fuel filter back over the carburetor inlet tube and/or add an inline filter to stop the rust from sticking the needles open and over flowing the carburetors. 4) Your floats have become saturated with fuel and no longer float in gasoline. Replace your floats. Poor idling or idling on only one cylinder can be caused by a bad spark plug cap. If you unscrew the spark plug caps and OHM them out they should read 5000 OHMS no higher and no lower. Good luck you have your homework.

There has been storage problems with the fuel we now have with ethanol. When storing or parking for more than a week or two, the fuel sets in the tank and carb and plugs jets and small passages. Sometimes, and I say sometimes, putting SeaFoam, Lucas, or other carb and fuel injection cleaner in the tank and running it at a high idle will help. When you are able to put in gear and it keeps running, ride it several miles ensuring it will keep running.

If the cleaner doesn't do the trick, then the carb or carbs need to be dissasembled and cleaned.

Bike sat for 2 months.it was full of fuel when it was parked


Sometimes when a bike sits, the floats get corroded and stick and sometimes they stick open allowing fuel to overfill the carburetor, if the intake is open when parked, the fuel will run right into the combustion chamber, pass by the piston rings and into the cranckcase.
I saw this happen serveral times.

Check your oil level and its probably overfilled, but its a gas and oil mixture so do not just drain out enough oil to the correct level, drain all the oil and change the oil filter.

Now you'll also have to pull the carburetor and have in thouroughly cleaned, jets removed and soaked, rinsed and blown through with compressed air.

After your carbs are cleaned and a new oil change your bike will be good to go.

Some people prefer to use seafoam added to their gasoline, to help prevent the floats from sticking and the jets clogging.
If possible it is also helpful to start the bike at least weekly and let it warm up to temp.
especially if you plan not to ride it for a while. If you fear that the gas will run into the motor again from sitting, be sure to turn the fuel petcock to off.

1978 XS750 won't rev up


first could be blocked fuel strainer in gas tank, older bikes sometimes build up sediment in gas tank. remove fuel shutoff valve and clean. second install inline fuel filter, you can pick one up at local motorcycle store or bikebandit.com. third. remove carburetor and disasemble and clean, older bikes sometimes accumulate sediemnt, dirt in carburetor. if your not familiar with carburetor disassembly maybe better to take to dealer for service.

I have a 01 vulcan 800 classic. i have to manipulate the choke for the bike to run at high speed, or it will start cutting out. at 40 mpg. it will run fne with the choke 1/4 of the way pulled out.


You have the classic symptom of a dirty carb, has the bike been sitting ? What is happening is you are compensating for more fuel by activating the choke, you can try some "Techron" you get it at your local auto parts store its usually in the fuel injector cleaner area, this can sometimes dislodge and clean the jets, if that doesn't work then I would have the carburetor clean properly.

1994 gsxr1100 cant get to start sounds like it could be a spark plug just wont kick over.


as well as the above thigs to have a look at, try and have the coils looked at.
on my 92 gsxr1100 the coils had degraded over the years.
the coils will need replaced sooner than later anyway.
this might help.
