The battery is not under the seat - its sits behind the square plastic panel under the handle bars. (If sitting on the bike the battery cover is beneath the ignition switch. Held on with on screw and pops off to reveal the batt box. The batt should have a retaining strap which would need to be removed before batt will come out.
