Question about Motorcycles

1 Answer

I have had my 07 zx10r for 3 years and have not had any problems with it so to say. I hopped on yesterday for a ride and 10 min into my ride my front brakes started to sieze up. They starting locking and when I came to a stop they were so tight that I could not move forward at all. I bled the lines a little and they loosened up to ride again but after a few more min they started doing to the same thing. I would pull the clutch and before even hitting the brake lever I would come to an abrupt halt.. How is all this pressure building up out of nowhere? And more important how do I fix this?

SOURCE: front brake locked on Kawasaki 300 atv

i would presume you have hyd front brakes? if so your return hole in your master cyc could be pluged.this would not let fluid to return to the resivouir. remove fluid and clean the tiny return hole on bottom of master cyc.Use comp air only

there could be a possibility that the brake fluid is leaking past the seals in the master cylinder on the handle bars and slowly apllying the brake

Starting the bike has effect on the front brakes and I doubt moving the bike does either. The problem sounds like you're using an improper procedure to bleed the brakes.

First, fill the front master cylinder reservoir with the proper type of brake fluid. Then, bleed the master cylinder. Use this EXACT procedure. Squeeze the lever and hold it. Then loosen the line from the front master cylinder and allow the pressure to bleed off. Release the brake lever. Repeat this procedure again. Do not allow the master cylinder reservoir to run dry during any part of this bleeding process.

Then move to the caliper bleeder valve. Squeeze and hold the brake lever, open the bleeder valve and bleed off the pressure, close the valve, release the lever and allow the master cylinder to refill. Repeat until you get a full firm brake lever. Top of the master cylinder. Wait a few minutes and test the brakes.

If you cannot get anything to work out, look in the very bottom of the master cylinder reservoir and you'll two holes. One is relatively large and the other is very small. Using a small drill bit or a strand of wire, make sure the small hole is open. I've seen trash plug this hole and the brakes not work correctly. DO NOT MIX DIFFERENT TYPES OF BRAKE FLUID. The correct brake fluid to use is printed on top of the reservior top.

Make sure you test the brakes before riding the bike, improper brake servicing can lead to serious injury or death.

Good Luck
Steve

I have a Kawasaki zx10r i replaced battery and after riding bike for few minutes u loose all power to bike lights and tach lights on console than have to jump bike to get it to start than it will do again

I bought a 04 zx10r. good battery but no electrical power any where but the starter relay. all of the suspected componets were chect on a running bike and perfermed normal. the issue was in the wire harness. I found a short in the #1 terminal connector on the left rail of the seat frame. It is hard to find as it is wraped in black tape. I found that the wire terminal had corroded and broken into. This wire leads back to the positive side of the starter relay and from that point it powers almost everything on the bike. I hope this helps. Good luck. Gixxerboy.

Stator in my 07 zx10r has over heated and shut down all systems. who do i contact to discuss replacement due to manufacturing fault? please.

Tony, you are out of luck on a free fix for the stator. The manufacturer only gives a 90 day warranty on the bike. Are you sure the stator is the problem? Have you checked the fuses and battery?

Hi,i want to put a steering damper on my 2006 zx6r c6f and i cant afford a new one,i have been told that certain years of the zx10r fit but dont know which, please can you help me.

My research shows that the damper also fits ZX10R (2004-2005). I would use caution when crossing bike parts. The part numbers are the same with a suffix letter different. This indicates a variation in the part. So although it may bolt up and perform the same, there is some difference.

I bought a john deere riding mower less than a year ago. i used it last season without any problems. I think the last time i used it, was in august 2010. winter came about, the grass wasn't growing, so...

First, I've had a motorcycle for almost 50 years and have never drained the gas. At one point it was not used for 3 years. It started, I added gas and it ran fine.
Second, next time you are running the machine and it begins to stall, immediately loosen the gas cap. If it starts to run good again, drill out the air vents on the cap.
