On my 3rd new gas tank rubber gasket

Had fuel lines in my 2006 Softtail Night Train replaced around two months ago. Ever since then the new rubber gasket replacements have leaked. I have had this gasket replaced three times so far, am going to have it replaced again this week. Not sure if this is relevant but, the gasket only leaks the day after I take a ride up the Pacific coast or anywhere near the ocean/slat air.

Its possible that the fuel lined have some type of misalignment issues where they are connecting, causing the gaskets to have side loads they were not intended for. The vibrations from driving are probably exaggerating the misalignment and prematurely wearing things

Have 2000 Impala that won't take gas. Pump sensing full tank and turning off. What could cause this? evap system?

There are two pipes that go from the fill port to the tank. One big one to let the fuel in and one small one to let the air out. If air cannot get out, fuel cannot get in. When fuel stops going in the fuel pump assumes the tank is full and shuts off. The small one is plugged somewhere, hopefully one of the small rubber hoses. A work-around is to fill the tank slow enough that the pump does not shut off.

2006 harley davidson heritage softtail classic front brakes dragging, whats wrong?

Probably partially seized brake pistons. Take off your caliper and pump the brake lever. See if the pistons move freely and check for corrosion. If they are pitted or rusted you will need to change them. If it is just perished rubbers then a rebuild kit is quite cheap.

Replace fuel pump

Best to do this in a well vented area because of the fire hazard, so that the gas fumes don't accumulate.
1) Disconnect battery negative cable.2) Jack up car and support on safety Jack stands3) Siphon gas out of tank4) Remove three rubber hoses on rear of tank. These are used for gas fill up; remove hose clamps and disconnect.5) Remove three hoses from front of tank; these hoses go from the fuel pump to the engine. You'll need special fuel line wrenches for this.6) Disconnect two connectors at the front of the tank.7) Remove two bolts that hold the exhaust pipe heat shield. You'll want to use penetrating oil on these; they will be corroded.8) Support tank with a floor jack. Remove the bolts which hold the tank in place. Pivot the tank on the exhaust, tilt and slide out.9) The gas hoses are taped to the tank. Remove the hoses. The fuel pump plate has about 12 screws around it. Remove the screws. Lift the plate out. The fuel pump is retained with one screw. Remove the screw. Filter is retained with a clip; remove it.10) Get your new fuel pump ($250), the rubber gasket for the fuel pump plate, and new filter ($5). Compare the pump with the old one; it must be the exact lenght. I had to go to two different auto parts stores before I got the right one.Installation is opposite of above. Good luck!Fuel pump is not too tough. First, get a Haynes or Chilton manual for reference (about $14).Best to do this outdoors, so that the gas fumes don't accumate. If I recall correctly:1) Disconnect battery2) Jack up car3) Siphon gas out of tank4) Remove three rubber hoses on rear of tank. Back firing and sputtering after oil change and spark plug replacement, oil was overfill, replace the air filter air lines gasket. This is a Harley Night train 2006, 88ci, fuel injected

Hi Lorabell777, take it back to the dealer and demand satisfaction politely and you want it fixed for free since you already paid big bucks for the practice repair. If they give you any static ask the store manager for the Motor Company's customer service phone number so you can ask them why your dealer won;t waranty their work in a timely manner. Good luck and have nice day.

My Craftsman 17cc gas weed trimmer wouldn't start.

Hi There, Check the primer bulb for tare or pin holes. Replace it. Check and clean carb jet it maybe plugged with debree. Also check for spark which you didn't say. Replace with correct plug.
Note; Do not use strong cleaners on rubber seals (O rings and gaskets) They dry up and crack.
If needed use a dabble of grease on seals

First of all $900 for a fuel pump? You got ripped! Sorry ,I just replaced one myself and fuel pump only cost me $214 with life time warenty. if you are the least bit mechanically inclined? Get a piece of plywood about 2ft-x2ft and place on floor jack under gas tank ,siphon as much gas as you can out of gas tank, mark the three lines on the passenger side of the gas tank on top(1,2,3)and dis connect,.jack upplywood to gas tank to hold weight while loosening 2 metal bands(straps) around gas tank, there are 2 bolts on each strap, lower tank to ground and slide off jack, jack up rear of vehicle to slide gas tank from under vehicle, remove the "C" clip to release fuel pump from gas tank. reverse this procedure to reinstall new one. The only problem I had was the new O ring gasket that came with new fuel pump was too stiff not allowing enough clearance to install C clip so I used the old O ring gasket and had no problems. That occasional popping could be a cv axle assuming you have all wheel drive.

Night train bogging out

I suspect a clogged fuel filter, but also check air filter. Take a flash light and look for crud in the tank. If you have to, go get a gas can of fuel, and dump the old gas. Five week old gas usually is not a problem, unless it was bad to start with...ie - bottom of the tank at the gas station.

I have the exact same problem with my 2006 chevy cobalt right now. That's why I am searching this. I had a mechanic friend look at it and it's the fuel pump and the lines are cracked to. Has anyone heard of a recall on this? It can't be a coincidence that we are having the same issue.
