I don't too much about that kind of thing personally. So whenever I have a problem I just have a auto electrician perth take a look for me. They can fix the problem way better than I could anyway.

SOURCE: not sure which wire on wiring harness to tail /

I have a 2003 SXC so I would think it would be the same. On mine the solid yellow wire is the tail light and the yellow wire with green stripe is the brake light.

1974camper special brake light wiring diagram

Stupid question but have you checked your fuses yet? Second, it could be your brake light switch behind the brake pedal. Next, try your hazards....does the rear blink? When you use your turn signal lever, do the front lights blink properly or at all?

Can not find fuse for brake light 2008 harley sportster 1200

Hi Anonymous, there is no fuse just for the brake light, it may have a brake relay located behind the left side panel. Always check your bulb first for broken filiment. Then check the connection at the rear fender wiring harness, inspect for corroded, broken or loose pins. Use a dab of dielectric grease and repair as necessary, check your brake light switches for continuity, some models rear turn signals were single filament bulbs only, no running light. If all else fails get out your test light and start tracking the power wire from the harness connection. You replace the brake light assembly for a 2005 Subaru Legacy that is in rear wing spoiler

Here's what I did to replace the brake light assembly for the rear passenger side (this would apply to the drive side as well, but not the brake light on the spoiler) on my 2005 Legacy Sedan:

1. Open trunk
2. Pull away the interior liner/paneling around the light. I believe you can remove a few of the black screw/clamps to do this. I just pulled mine out, which works, but is prob not optimal. Take note of how it all sits in as your pulling it out to avoid headaches when putting the paneling back in.
3. Pull off the brake light wiring clamps/screws. Mine had a few white screw/clamps holding part of the wiring to screws on the assembly. These come out easily by applying low pressure and pulling them off.
4. Un-clamp the main (white) brake light clamp. On the top of the clamp, on the side that is the wire coming in (left side for passenger assembly), you apply pressure on the rectangular part of the plastic which releases the clamp, and pull off. I fiddled for this for a bit. You don't need a screw driver or anything, just apply downward pressure on the top of the clamp, on the rectangular portion, on the side that will pull away.
5. Look at your new brake light assembly. You will see 4 screws coming out that have no nuts. These are the nuts (the only ones) you need to remove from the old assembly. I used a socket wrench but pliers would suffice.
6. BE CAREFUL not to drop one of the nuts when getting near the end of the screw. Dropping one and losing it in no-man's land could require a trip back to the store!
7. Once all 4 are removed, gently pull and wiggle from the outside. You can also push and wiggle from the inside. This takes out the assembly.
8. Insert new assembly. The one white screw that extends out from the car will fit into place with the assembly as it gets in.
9. Put the nuts back on and tighten. You will have to do a few rounds of this as the assembly gets tighter in. Don't move on until you have re-checked all nuts and they are snug.
10. Clamp on main light wiring
11. Put paneling back on
12. Check to see if works
13. Gaze at your amazing repair work for a minute and confidently proceed with your day knowing you just saved $100!

Total job takes 15 minutes, tops.

Woo!

The blinkers work but the brake lights dont for a 2003 harley davidson dyna super glide...how can i fix this?

Check to see if the brake light works when you apply the front brakes. If they work but if the brake light won't come on when the rear brake pedal is depressed, the rear brake light switch is bad. Find the rear brake master cylinder and you'll see a metal line coming out of it. Follow the line back towards the rear of the bike until you come to a tee in the line. The brake light switch is screwed into the tee and a couple of wires plugged onto it.

If neither your rear brake light nor you tail light works, first check the bulb. If the bulb is good, you might have a wiring problem. The wiring is a sub-harness that plugs up under the seat area and then runs back to the rear light assembly. The turn signal wiring usually run down each side of the rear fender behind the fender struts.

Brake-light / side-light electrical problem

follow the light my son..stay away from the switches and relays...your solution lies in the powers/grounds at the chassis /bulb areas...the grounded power to the front bulb is causing brakes to go on..(they are ground actuated )....so you are closer than ever to solving this ..go back to each location making sure that they are clean , grounding to chassis and getting power... the gremlin will go away when ALL are power/ground happy

Need wiring diagram/chart for 1994 940

if you have no brake lights at all first check voltage in and out of brake light switch above pedel (not the one with vac line) if thats ok then pull the large red round bulb out senser behind the fuse panel and look for the bad solder connection inside it or just replace it/as for the od i think what you are saying is it gets stuck out of od and the engine revs high? the most commen problem is the od relay that is also behind the fuse panel (white ,tall, left side and square) but the best fix is to bypass it all on the trans with a kit from IPD.
