You will have to loosen the pushrods if you have adjustable pushrods, if not then you will have to remove the rocker boxes first. if you dont release all the pressure from the pushrods you will crack the engine case when you go to remove the cam cover.

How do I romove starter from 98 Heritage softail

You have to remove the primary cover and unbolt the starter jack shaft from the inside hold it with a pair of channel locks to get the screw undone then goto the oposite side you will need a six inch extention plus a six inch ball allen wrench for a 3/8 drive socket wrench there are two screws on the back of the primary back those out then disconect the battery cable from the starter and pull it out. it is a bit of a process if you dont have the right tools dont attempt also please diconnect the battery before you start once you get the primary cover off you have exposed the primary chain it can take your fingers and or hand
get the manuel it will give you a play by play but you will need special tools and they aren't cheep
