My 2007 FLHX has had problems starting and today it died as I was going thought the gears hard, the same thing I found from the starting problem, if you push up on the what used to be called the pet cock you can here the fuel pressure release and my bike starts right up. I think I have fuel regulator problem.

SOURCE: how to drain gas with fuel injection

Remove the gas line before the fuel injection and let it drain. Make sure that your gas valve is opened though so that it will flow. You can also do it from the gas selector it will drain that way also. If this helped please rate. Thank you

Carb or EFI? If it is a carbed bike I would suspect either your main breaker or your cam position sensor.

Its your fuel pump if you can't hear it. And its inside your tank. Not a hard fix if you have a book that tells you how to remove it. Alot of procedures to follow to get it right. And yes it does work off a relay.

If it does it only when the tank is stating to get low, you have a hole in the fuel line, which should be covered under warranty. listen to the tank when the level is low. If it sounds like water being sprayed in the tank, then more than likely that's your problem, The problem won't generally present itself when the tank is full, because the gas helps cover the hole in the line keeping the pressure higher than when it's low on fuel.

How do I check the fuel filter on a 2006 honda vtx 1800

  1. Engine
    • The Honda VTX 1800 cruiser boasts a monstrous 1,795cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine, with three valves per cylinder and a nine-to-one compression ratio. It has a bore and stroke of 101 by 112 mm, making it an undersquare, or long-stroke motor, meaning it's tuned for low-end torque. With a curb weight of 800 pounds, you'll need all that low-RPM power to get off the line. The bike does not have a tachometer, so you'll have to shift the five-speed transmission by feel.
    Fuel System
    • The bike is fuel injected, with an automatic choke. Fuel injection helps the VTX 1800 ride more smoothly than carbureted V-twins. The tank carries 5.3 gallons of fuel. In reviews, the bike had an average range of 194 miles on a tank of gas.

    Performance and Handling
    • This is a massive and massively powerful motorcycle. It corners wide, and is really meant for highway cruises rather than city riding. The bike gets a remarkable 100 foot-pounds of torque at 3,000 RPM. The suspension is rough, and you will certainly feel bumps in the road. Honda, however, has put a lot of effort into minimizing engine vibration, so the gigantic V-twin won't rattle your bones the way you expect it to. The engine makes a solid, satisfying thump without chattering your teeth.

More likely to be your ignition coils. They heat up and expand this can cause an open circuit which will close up again when it has cooled down. Although, a bad charging system may cause this problem. Check the battery voltage with engine switched off ( approx 12 volts) and with the engine running (approx 14 volts) If you are getting 14 volts then your battery is dead, if you aren't, then your charging system has a fault.

Fuel pressure at idle is normally 30-35psi. Start by taking the gas cap off, and putting it back on. That will De-pressurize the fuel system. Also, make sure you have gas in the car. I have seen gauges on these cars read wrong. I hope this helps.

Runs for few minutes down rode then dies get started again sometimes die sometimes fine if petcock diapham do i need to take off to check

To check the diaphragm, pull the fuel line off the petcock and connect a short hose leading into a catch can. Spin the engine with the starter or crank the engine for a few seconds and watch the rate of flow. If it looks like enough fuel, then the diaphragm is probably fine. Have you checked the tank vent in the fuel cap? If the cap vent is plugged, the bike won't run but about a mile or so before it quits. Loosen the fuel cap on the right side if your bike is a Softail otherwise loosen the fuel cap but don't take it completely off. Just enough to allow air to vent into the tank and take it for a ride. If the tank is full, I'd advise draining about half the fuel out or you'll have it in your lap. Not good. You can take the cap off, wipe it good and clean and try to **** and blow through it with your mouth. I've done it plenty of times because I didn't have time to ride the bike on the road. Might need to brush your teeth afterwards, and I wouldn't smoke for while, but it'll tell you if the cap vent is bad.

Good Luck

It sounds like a fuel flow restriction somewhere. Sure, it'll start every time and idle for a while but take it down the road a bit. If it quits, I'd suspect that for some reason it's not getting fuel to the engine from the tank. Loosen the fuel cap, the cap vent may be bad. The vented cap the right side tank cap. If it's fuel injected, it could be the fuel pump or something. It sounds like a fuel problem to me.

Good Luck

86 Shadow VT500 suddenly losing power/bogging down

first thing to do is to check fuel level. you mentioned about 290 miles since you owned it but no fillups. did you get gas from same store? not unusual to pickup trash or water in fuel from conv. stores. with that out of the way, look at your plugs and see what they look like. black and sooty would be fuel fouled and very white or very light tan would be lean. if plugs and fuel are eliminated, it could be the result of a stator coil starting to go south. these will require special tools to diagnose.

S2r problems

A few things to check/do * make sure there is no animals living in the airbox make sure your idle is at or around 1200rpm +- 100rpm * start looking for someone in your area that can do a good fuel injection set-up [/list] what do the spark plugs look like? is sounds rich the clicking and hissing is the fuel injectors and the air bypass , when the air bypass screws are out a bunch it can get loud. screwing these in will richen the bike and lower the idle. I would bet that they have been used to get the idle up and that is why they are loud. The techtron will work fine as you have it. I doubt that it will help what you have described. I would do the easy things yourself (new plugs and check air filter) and find someone to set up the fuel injection properly. plan on around 1-2 hours of shop time to set it up. They should also be able to read any codes if there is something wrong. good luck
