Question about Harley Davidson Motorcycles
Ihave a 1999 FXR2 I ordered a cutom wheel from Chopper Cycle (that was going to be a bolt on). The wheel does not fit. They will not return the wheel or help in any way. From what I can see the hub on the wheel looks like it would fit a 2003 Sportster. What I am looking for is a drawing for the FXR2 hub to see if I can have this wheel machined to work.
What won't fit?
Axle won't fit?

Testimonial: "The hub is about 1/4 inch to wide. The bearings are sealed flush type 2". The FXR bearings recessed 1.80". With the wheel centered the rotor hits the left fork leg the speedo pickup/spacer will not fit. It looks like the bearing pocket will have to be sunk the axle spacer will have to be cut down the hub will need to be machined on both sides (and not the same amount). If I didn't have the speedo pickup to worry about it wouldn't be as bad. I am looking for a drawing of the stock wheel so I can see if machining is possible. Thanks"

Hard to diagnose, but if you have a bad engine vibration, you will be able to diagnose that when stopped and just revving up the engine. Moving balance problem can be easily out of true wheel and or needs balanced. (You can make your own balancer/ wheel true guage our of a couple of 8X8 posts with axle size hole drilled in each one) If you clonked a curb or pot hole at speed this can easily happen. Hope this helps you with your scoot, Rick

You must remove the primary to reach 2 bolts holding in the starter. This is a pretty big job, first completely loosen the clutch cable, remove the derby cover, disconnect clutch cable, remove inspection cover, drain primary fluid, loosen primary chain tension er, remove shifter linkage, remove primary cover ( use a Styrofoam board to place bolts in order due to different lenghts), remove ramp and ball assembly ( need snap ring plyers), using a tool to lock the clutch basket and primary drive remove bolts( I don't remember which but one removes left hand), you now can reach the bolts holding in the starter. As I stated this is a pretty big job and you should have a manuel before starting, if you don't want to buy one you can check one out at most library's. Reverse to install and remember LOCK TITE everything.
