Question about kawasaki VN 2000 Classic LT Motorcycles
I can still ride it normally but I often hear (from under the gasoline tank) some metallic part inconsistently hitting another part. Ever since this problem began, it became more difficult to start my engine. I'm afraid that something is loose in the head or transmission. Thanks for the help.
Don't start engine at all until you find out for sure. only way to check is to tear down engine.

This sounds like pre-ignition, aka detonation and engine knock. Change to premium gas and put in a set of spark plugs that are one heat range colder than stock. It is good that you are handling this before the engine destroys itself. Yes, destroys itself. That is what pre-ignition will do. By the way, good description!

This sounds like a classic case of pre-ignition, aka detonation and engine knock. Change to premium gas and put in a set of spark plugs that are one heat range colder than stock. It is good that you are handling this before the engine destroys itself. Yes, destroys itself. That is what pre-ignition will do. Hot carbon deposits ignite the fuel before the spark plug does. This is hard on the rod, main bearings and piston. Beat on the top of a piston with a hammer. That is what your piston will quickly look like with pre-ignition.

SOURCE: cbr 929 noise from front spocket
Take the cover off do an inspection,....check for worn curved or a loose fit...it might not be to late to install a new one...you do know that if your back spocket isnt alinged in a pefectly striaght angle head on that it could be chunking at an angle to it slightly and wearing out the teeth. good luck a friend of mine has a 929 and he said he cant get his bike into second gire but all the rest work fine.

The water pump seal is maybe gone.This would allow water into the trans.Get it checked and also that the bearing hasn,t spun in its location.This may cause the color change.Being a grey color,it may indicate aluminium in the oil.This may be the spun bearing turning in the housing.With what you wrote,I would get these things looked at.I hope this helps you
