the fan is supposed to come on when the engine gets too hot - so let it go - no need to stop the engine - usually it will go off - once you get moving at a decent speed

My bike is overheats when it is running still>


This is a thermal switch, located on the radiator, the wires from the fan will be looped into this, normaly located to one side in one of the ends, if you have a switch on the radiator it will have 2wires bridge these together with the ignition on taking care not to earth any of the wires out, and the fan should come on, i presume your temp gauge is working correctly, and you have coolant in the system, check when cold the level of coolant not in the bottle but in the radiator, also check the fan turns manualy by hand and if you have a fuse covering the fan that it is in good condition

The bike is getting hot. Light has not come on but you can feel it burning up. I replaced the fan it turned on the first ride then it hasn't since. Don't know if it's the pump or censers or how to check...


You can test the fan by simply unplugging the single wire that attaches to the fan thermal switch and touching it to ground. With the ignition switch on, the fan should spin when you do this. If it does spin, then you've most likely got a bad thermal switch.

Your bike has two thermally activated switches: one for the temp gauge - and one to operate the fan. The temp gauge switch has two wires going to it, while the fan switch just ahs one wire.

Also, check that the coolant temp light bulb is not burnt out. FYI: Feeling what seems to be a great amount of heat coming off your bike's liquid cooled engine is normal, especially on warm days. If the cooling system has the proper amount of coolant in it - and is not boiling over, then the engine is probably not overheating.

My fan wont come on my bike but i straight wired it and it still work and the fuse is some good


THE MOST OBVIOUSE REASON FOR THE FAN NOT COMING ON IS THE LACK OF WATER IN THE SYSTEM, IGNORE THE COOLANT BOTTLE, GO STRAIGHT TO THE RADIATOR AND CHECK FOR COOLANT ASSUMING YOU DO HAVE COOLANT, YOU COULD ALSO DO 1 OTHER TEST.WHEN YOU SAY YOU STRAIGHT WIRED TE FAN, DO YOU MEAN YOU PUT A LIVE FROM THE BATTERY TO THE FAN AND IT WORKED? HAVE YOU TRIED LOCATING THE THERMAL SWITCH LOCATED ON THE RADIATOR THIS WILL HAVE 2 WIRES ON IT, IT ACTS AS A THERMOSTAT WHEN THE WATER GETS UP TO TEMP(IE THE REASON FOR WATER PRESENCE) THE SWITCH ALOWS POWER TO CROSS THROUGH TO THE FAN,, JOIN TOGETER BOTH WIRES AT THIS SWITCH WITH THE IGNITION ON IF THE FAN THEN WORKS AND YOU HAVE CHECKED THE ABOVE I WOULD SUSPECT THE SWITCH IS AT FAULT.BEFORE REPLACING TEST IT USING A MULTI METERE

I have a 01' New Beetle my cooling fans come on high speed when the ignition is turned on and stay on while the motor is running. Have already changed out the coolant temp sensor, control module, radiator...


I finally fixed the problem. It wasn't the Water pump, or the Fan switch or the Green Temp Switch or the Fan Control Module but the "BLACK" NOT White, 2 Pin Thermal Switch 112c" It does sit in between 3 collant hoses where the upper radiator hose comes together with 2 smaller hoses. Kinda looks like a peace sign and in the center sits the 2 Pin Thermal Switch. It's not a AC Cut off switch which even the dealer tried to sell me and which I actually ordered from ECS tuning. The AC Cut out switch is "White" and even thou looks the same in size and form will not fix the issue. I was able to read the part number off the old switch which is 357919369F which when I looked it up on the ECS tuning web site did bring me to the right switch. Black with a green stripe on the top rim. I ordered that baby and it came in yesterday. Took the White switch out and put the Black switch in and guess what the fans no longer turn on when the ignition is in position 2 and now the fans come on when they are suppose to and don't sound like a jet engines afterburner. Simple 20 dollar part solved the problem. I think a lot of people are getting the wrong part from the dealer since this part is very hard to find. Everyone I asked wanted to give me that white sensor AC cut out switch but that isn't it. 1994 honda magna coolin fan wont work whats wrong??


The most common cause is a defective thermal switch (this is what causes the fan to come on when the engine coolant reaches a certain temperature). The switch is threaded into the thermostat housing and has a single wire connected to it. If you simply run a jumper from the wire, to ground - the fan should come on. If so, then the thermal switch is bad. Other possible reasons for the fan to not work are a blown fuse, or a defective fan motor.

Freezer seems to be working fine but fridge is not cold... fridge is on top of freezer, it is a frost free zanussi, not sure which model thou, just coming up to 5 yrs old ? any help would be great thanks


A fan controlled by a thermostat is required to move the cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator for cooling. Use a volt meter testing the voltage on the fan. If you have voltage it is a bad fan. If you do not get a voltage test the thermostat. If it measures zero ohms short the thermal switch or if it is a short open one lead. If the fan works replace the thermal switch.

Fan running all the time


This is an ignition problem, (probability of short circuit in the ignition head wiring). U may have to repair this.

Noise when bike is off, Air compressor?


If you cut the bike off using the kill switch, but left the ignition key turned on, the electric cooling fan behind the radiator will sometimes come on for a little while. Turning off the ignition key will stop the fan.

Your fan is not comming on, check your Antifreeze.
