Im not sure how your bike is but if there is a primary drive chain or belt I would check that.

SOURCE: Yamaha xt 125 won't drive when In Gear even when

Loosen off the clutch cable. It should move about 1.5 cm (at the lever end) before the cable becomes tight.

My yamaha thunderace wont start you press the start button and the celenoid just whines the starter motor spins ok when direct power is supplied

Hi, Anonymous your starter motor is not/was not the problem that dubious title goes to the starter drive/Bendix/clutch which is a separate component that is activated by the starter motor it is a mechanical gear driven part that engages the clutch pack to turn over the engine. It has an internal mechanism that allows the gear to turn in one direction and once the engine starts allows the drive gear to free spin. If gear free spins in both directions then the drive gear has failed, it is not serviceable and needs to be replaced. Cluch slips and then grabs. Grabs good. But not at frist Seems to slip at the top of every gear. Text answer to number below.

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Clutch controls improperly adjusted.
2. Insufficient clutch spring tension.
3. Friction discs or steel discs are worn or warped

Hello.Owner of 1990 XT600 2KF,30.000 km in very good condition. after een steep ride in first gear,I cannot shift to first gear.It seems stuck.Engine off: no problem changing gears. What can this be: Oil...

If the clutch is operating fine as well as the shift mechanism, it's either a bearing or a internally cracked case that's allowing the bearing to move. First gear is actuated on the rear transmission shaft that Is common to the drive sprocket on the left side of the bike, and an idler gear that engages the kick start lever to the clutch basket. This is located under the right engine case cover. Remove the chain and sprocket and check the shaft to see if it will move up and down in the bearing. If that's solid, remove the right side cover and check the case and bearing under the idler gear. I have had Yamaha cases crack at that bearing area and cause that same problem. Good luck!

High pitched rev when accelerating up to 30mph and a losing power with a sound like someone scratching thier nails down a blackboard

Sounds like the clutch is failing. The engine is reving up and the bike doesn't as much? the screeching is the clutch slipping, check to be sure the clutch is adjusted with free play at the handle and smooth operation ( cable works smoolthly ). Then reserch how to get the cluch set and when it arrives change the clutch. It's possible that the primary gear set has failed is it really loud? Take the cluch cover off and inspect for busted parts and striped gears. what ever you find write down the parts needed and put it back together as the longer it's apart the more likly you'll never get it fixed.

I cant shift into 2nd gear from first, it only goes to neutral..what could be the problem?

Check that its not just the gear pedal either stuck or spinning round on its shaft.
If not then its probably the gear selector mechanism - hopefully on the accessible part. Remove the right-hand engine cover & check that the shift shaft operates the claw (which turns the gear selector drum) & that all springs etc are OK. Otherwise its on the internal part of the selector mechanism which will require a full engine strip

Good Luck
Hope this helps.

When in first gear with the cluch in it keeps jumping at the front sproket xt 600e

Sounds like you need to adjust your clutch. Over time the friction plate material wears down and takes up the slack in the clutch pivot throw. I normally suggest buying a proper manual for anything vehicle related. It could be simply adjusting the slack in the cable. But it sounds like a wearing down clutch plate issue.
