Yamaha TW 125 Sputters and hesitates when Hot

well first thing i'd check is the choke isnt sticking on. if so the bikes running rich, hence the temperature.

if its got the paddle switch on the side of the carb, make sure its not turning on once you ride it, if its a cable check its retracting fully by lubing the cable.

and also Fuel treatment e.g. redex isnt a problem fixer, it helps do what it says but it cant beat a thorough strip down.

check your carb jets are clean theres no rust etc inside the float bowl, and make sure your running the right spark plug heat range, as if its too high a range that wont help either.

17.5hp OHV Briggs & Stratton w/ Nikki Carb sputters & backfires thru carb & muffler

Hi, run a number drill through the main jet. Even though you have carby cleaned it a thin layer of residue will remain on the walls of the jet. The problem you have is a lean misfire. Regards Phil.

After coming to a stop and trying to accelerate when I pull on the throttle the bike is sputtering & seems to be cutting out and not getting fuel. If I pull out the choke it immediately accelerates....

If you just replaced the petcock, you may want to go back and check for a good fuel flow. Pull the fuel line loose from the carb. Hole a catch container under the fuel line and press the start button. The bike should start up and run for a short while or spin over a few times. Either way, watch the fuel flow and see how is coming out of the hose. Does it look like it is enough? If not, check the vacuum line going to the backside of the petcock if you installed an OEM petcock. If you installed a manual aftermarket petcock, did you plug the vacuum hose that went to the backside of the original?

If you have a good fuel flow, you may have gotten some water in your last fuel stop. There may be a screw right on the bottom of the float bowl of the carb. Back this screw out and it will allow the float bowl to drain thorough the hose. Catch it in a catch container and look to see if it's got water in it. If so, buy a can of Sea Foam fuel conditioner and pour some in the fuel tank. This will help get the water out.

If all that fails, you may have trash in the accelerator pump or the slow speed jet. Take the air cleaner cover off the air filter. With the engine OFF, twist the throttle wide open while looking into the carb. You should see a squirt of fuel come out of the brass nozzle in the mouth of the carb. If not, your float bowl is either empty or the accelerator is not working.

Good Luck

these symptoms usually point toward lean on fuel for some reason
most common would be dirty or gummed pilot circuit and pilot jet I would remove carb and take out the pilot jet clean or replace with new - blow compressed air through the hole the pilot jet came out before reinstall
depending what altitude you are a bigger size pilot jet may assist this issue also but clean and replace original pilot jet and circuit first to confirm
