If the engine has high mileage the lack of oil pressure could be worn main bearings.but if your lucky it could be a faulty oil pressure sending unit.fyi there are 2 sensors one is desingned to tell the ecm low pressure to shut off the fuel pump to prevent engine damage this would explain ur jerking

No oil presure

The sending unit was my guess...Could be the oil pump going bad...Or even a to good brand oil filter restraining the oil from recirculating...I've seen it happen..

1999 suburban gage oil pressure is 0 when it warms up. rpm drop to 3-4 rpm when oil pressure goes to 0. Sounds good, runs excellent -no noise. Actually it sound better then most new cars. It is so...

I looked at info for 1500--5.7L engine.
6 psi @ 1000 rpms
18 psi@2000 rpms
24 psi @ 4000 rpms

Sometimes, you can use analog gage in place of oil pressure sending unit and double check oil pressure that way. If oil pressure is actually low, if high mileage engine, I doubt replacing oil pump will help. I just wanted to add, check oil pressure engine warmed up.

Its a 1995 chevy k1500 5.7 when in park my oil presure reads fine but when i put it in gear my oil presure drops down to almost stalling

This is odd but somewhat normal. This is the way the electronic gauges register. You can try to replace the oil sender to see if it registers different but as long as it shows some increase in pressure when you rev up you should ok. When you put in gear the RPMS on the tach will drop , thus reducing oil pressure. Also, not knowing when you changed the oil last you may just have worn out motor oil.

Low oil presure on gmc 5.3 manual gauge shows 0 psi at idle 20 psi driveing

Oh my!! I'm guessing the "oil pressure relief valve" is stuck open. Does the motor sound OK no knocking or ticking? The "oil pressure relief valve" is built into the oil pump.

Oil pressure gauge goes crazy!

You had better check your dipstick and see if you have any oil showing on the stick? Sounds like your oil pump pickup is uncovering in a turn and cavitating which is caused by low oil quantity.
