It appears that the problem is in the brushes in the alternator and the slip rings. At high revs and 4000 will be around 6000 in the alternator the brushes are floating off the rings. I would have the alternator check out

Hi Jasper:
Have you tried jump starting from another vehicle?
It may be that your battery is just not putting out enough amps.
RV and motorcycle batteries tend to not last as long as car batteries.

The starter engages and starts the motor fine when the motor is cold. however if you ride and try to restart the starter just spins and you can only start using the kick stater.

Wont start or stay running unless battery charger is on it

some four wheelers require a battery to run correctly. sounds like you need a new one.

Clutch slipping on new bike so has no traction on start. Brand new Bike. Peter

Hi

Being in proper adjustment ensures that your clutch is FULLY disengaging when you pull the lever and is fully engaging when you release the lever. This will make sure that it will not slip under acceleration or drag when the lever is in. It will also prolong the life of the clutch, making it last longer.
Also note, normally there is an adjustment at the clutch itself AND an adjustment of the cable to ensure proper free-play on the cable, this is for making sure there is no tension or pressure being applied to the clutch with the lever fully released.

Here is how you can fix your clutch:-

Drain the oil out of the 4-wheeler. This is done by unscrewing the drain plug under the engine. If you have a skid plate obstructing the plug, remove it first. Remove the clutch cover with a socket and ratchet. Inspect the gasket and replace if it is worn, cut or ripped.

Remove the pressure plate by loosening the bolts with a socket and ratchet. Loosen in a crisscross pattern so that the pressure plate comes off easily and won't bind. There are springs behind the bolts, so be careful not to loosen them. When removing the pressure plate be aware of the lifter behind it and make sure you don't lose it. Remove the friction plates from inside the clutch compartment. Remove the jutter springs and make a note of how they are positioned. This will make the reinstall process easier.

Reverse the steps to reinstall. When installing the bolts on the pressure plate and the clutch cover, consult your service manual for the right torque pressure.
