The indicators have stopped working most of the time and only come on now and again, however they still flash when the alarm is set

Sounds to me like you have made an error somehere, the indicators are not meant to be cut only just cut back the insolation and solder the alarm indicator wires onto the left and right indicators, best to the rear, DONOT CONNECT AT FLASHER RELAY, Recheck your connections, only cut the system you wish to protect ie imobiliser alarm, follow the instructions carefully if you have any, slightly grey area, with security devices as the information in the wrong hands could have bad concequences
Make sure the wireing is all connected properly, i do know that some of these units only use 1 earth wire for the whole light, where as you would have 5 wires for the earths originaly, 2 x indicators, 1 x stop and tail light, 1x number plate light, it may be that you have wired an earth into a live circuit on the new lamp, the coloure code does not always mach that of your bike, so you will have 2lives for the rear indicators, identify these by putting the wires directly to your battery one at a time, connect the indicators using the indicator live wires only to the new unit, the stop light using the live wire only, and the rear light using the original earth and rear light live
have you changed the flasher relay to run led indicators if not you will need to you cant run standard bulb indicators and led together. and with the brake like sounds like pulling on the cable when on lock causing switch to stay on check that location of the wiring is correct and sufficient freeplay
Hi Richard, Just a thought, I had a similar problem fitting Led bulbs to my Volvo and sorted it by putting the correct resistors in line.
Beware these get very warm so need safe/cool area for mounting.
Initially, since the occurrence is all on one side, then there is a strong possibility that they are interrelated and the common factor is the ground line of the left side. Pls check the ground wire. It would also be to youor advantage to check the regular components such as the fuse, switch, connectors.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.
