Clutch pedal not diengaging the clutch

Hello,

My car starts just fine, but I cannot switch into any gears at all. The clutch pedal is extreamly loose and when i push it all the way down it just stays. I believe its just not disegaging the clutch, but I dont know how to fix it. I think I have a hydrolic clutch, so it might be a crack in the line? what is the fix for that? more transmission fluid?

Thanks

Make sure your slave cylinder is full first. There should be a round (usually round anyway) plastic reservoir mounted on the firewall that uses brake fluid....that supplies fluid to the slave cylinder.

1st thing to check is the clutch reservoir which should be located on the engine firewall, near the brake master cylinder. Make sure it's full, if it's low, it could result in your trouble. It requires brake fluid, if you have to add any.

Problem is either a bad clutch master cylinder, leak in hydraulic line or bad slave cylinder. Check all for leaks and replace bad components. If no leaks, likely the master is internally bypassing and not making pressure. After repair, system needs to be bled (essentially the same as you bleed brakes) to remove any trapped air.

You need to check the slave/master cylinders for leaking. Loose pedal means there is no liquid inside, clutch is bleeding. Look under the vihicle for leaks and floore inside tha cabin.
Hope that helps
Good Luck

Engine revs but no acceleration

Clutch plate and pressure plate seem to be too weak to pull the car. Or one of the CV joints is detached from the gear box. To test the clutch plate, park the car on flat surface. Pull the hand brake up, start the car, depress the foot brake pedal, depress the clutch pedal, put the car in 1st gear, press the gas pedal and leave the clutch pedal at once, while keeping the brake pedal depressed.
Follow one of the two following statements:
1. Engine does not shut down and remain start. (Clutch plate, pressure plate and clutch bearing defective - Replace all as a set)
2. Engine shuts down. (Clutch system is OK and does not require any repair).

Gear box problem car want start unless wiggle gear stick i fink sensor whats the problem

There is a Clutch Start Switch that allows the battery voltage to be supplied to the starter when the the clutch pedal is depressed.

When the clutch pedal is depressed, there should be continuity on terminal numbers 1 and 2.

The switch is located in front of the clutch pedal stem.

I have a manual transmission in my '04 Mustang. When I begin to depress the clutch, an odd grinding sound starts, not loud but enough to warrant concern. As I drive, the car sounds fine. Switching gears...

Worn throw out bearing, replace or the problem may damage other components. This requires dropping the entire transmission. this bearing sits between the clutch pressure plate and clutch slave assembly. When the clutch pedal is pressed, the bearing makes contact with the spinning clutch pressure plate. If defective, grinding/squealing noises may be heard. If the bearing fully fails, loose debris may damage other components. Replace immediately!!
