The air conditioner blows hot/warm when I stop or when I'm in idle but blows cold the rest of the time. Also, the gauges show that I am overheating when I stop/idle but then go back to normal? I had the freon topped off and it only helped to blow colder air when it actually blows cold so that wasnt the problem. Thanks you.
If you have a viscous fan hub have it replaced as it is not working. The problem you have is that the engine is not driving the fan to draw air through the radiator when idling so the engine overheats . When moving the air flow from driving cools the radiator and so the temp goes back down. If you have electric fans have the codes read to find the fault or check why the electric fans are not working.

sounds like you have a leak in the system and have air that has entered into the system.
best to have it serviced by a shop, the system will need to be inspected to find the leak and then evacuated. part replaced and refilled.
leak detector will be okay
Do NOT use the cans of refrigerant with sealer in it.
and do not let the shop put a sealer in it, in the long run this will cost you the replacement of the whole a/c system.

You need to replace the drivers side temp actuator that is located on the left side of the HVAC box. It is retained by 3 screws and is fairly easy to replace.
