Chevy S10 2.2 trouble starting but then runs fine.

After sitting over night.. when I try to start the truck, it cranks and cranks for 5 to 10 seconds, wether giving it gas, or not.. and then starts. idles fine. when applying any amount of throttle it completely cuts out, does this for approximately 5 minutes or so.. and then runs perfect for the rest of the day, until it sits a little while again. And then same thing all over. occasionally dies when backing out of a parking spot after initial starting.

on an additional note. I replaced the fuel filter, and a cracked vaccuum line.. to no avail. Still same issues, if not worse then before replacing fuel filter.

Have you checked base fuel pressure with a gauge yet ?
Sounds like the pump is weak.

SOURCE: 2002 chevrolet monte carlo

My car was doing the same thing. It would stall out while idling or even turning a corner. I ended up replacing a few sensors but the problem was the fuel injector pressure regulator. The check engine light never came on. It was leaking fuel through the vacuum side of the diaphragm. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator and if there are any traces of gasoline it needs to be replaced.

2004 tundra cranks but will not start

Check the computer control module for fault codes first, this requires what is called an OBD 2 fault code reader, you can borrow or rent one from most auto parts stores, the test is run from the diagnostic connector under the dash on the drivers side in most Toyota cars and trucks 96 and up.

2004 gmc sonoma why does it take 2-3 times cranking before it starts and only does it sometimes?

install pressure gauge and watch when key is turned off to see if pressure drops to zero if so bad drain back valve in fuel pump replace it or deal with it or could be cheap aftermarket pump and has hard time building unnecessary pressure to open poppet valves between before fuel injectors

I have trouble starting my 2007 HHR upon initial start-up. it sputters but after a few seconds of that it starts to run fine. I can stop somewhere turn it off and crank it again and it starts fine seems...

this could be a bad fuel pump that has a problem from sitting over night or when it cools down enough.the armature in the pump may be worn and when its cold it has a hard time turning the pump because of it being worn and when it gets warmed up enough the clearance is closer than when cold and works fine.

does it have three second fuel pump run when you turn key to run position/ in between you should let i rest 5 or so seconds then try it again also some of these cadilacs have oil pressure sending unit wich takes the duty of keeping fuel pressure up is fuel pressure lowering as engine quits eg. rev up some in your few seconds of running while the engine is quit momentum keeps it turning for a short time see if you r pressure maintain thru the wind down
