if you look under the hood on the drivers side you will see a square plastic box beside the battery. Unscrew that box and you will see oil light and other reset buttons. It is well labelled
All you should have to do is squeeze the plastic clips together, you may need a pliers. Another thing that helps is spray some WD-40 in there and rotate the filter on the line a little.
The oil filter is located on the back of the engine (between the engine and the firewall) and is located on the passenger side above the oil pan. They are relatively easy to get off if you have an oil filter ratchet adapter available at your parts store. Make sure you get the right size if they do not offer and adjustable version.
We just went through the same thing on our 1997 SC1, replaced the head gasket and the oil in the coolant issue persisted.
Pulled a cylinder head out of a 1995 wagon and put it in, the problem has cleared up after a LOT of flushing with powered automatic dishwasher machine detergent and water. We also replaced the upper and lower radiator hoses, thermostat and water pump once the flushings were complete.
