What causes it to miss and backfire on one cylinder?

Did a professional shop "rebuild" the carbs? If not, take the bike to a professional and tell them what you did or had done! They will fix it!

Once again I am Seeking a Fix for My 1988 virago 1100 The carbs Are not Right Tuned For A set of cobra Exhaust & mufflers it Black smokes And The Front plug gets Black Soot on it heavy no Wet it W

If it's running rich already, a bigger jet will just make it run even richer.

As far as the rear cylinder running hotter, that's just the nature of the beast with a V-Twin engine, because the front cylinder blocks the airflow to the rear.

Loses power at 4500 rpm, carbs are clean and has no intake leaks. has good sparkplugs an coils are working. front cylinder pops a blue flame consistanly after a few revolutions. exhaust seems colder on...

If your carbs and plugs are fine you may wish to check into you wiring harness to see if you have a cyclinder not firing due to a problem with wiring (frayed or disconnected).

1 st check compression on that cylinder by taking spark plug off and getting a compression tester and screw into spark plug hole then turn the engine over and if the compression goes over 100psi/7.5 bar then your ring are ok a picture below will demonstrate get back to me if the ring are ok i have more solutions d292560.jpg
