Check the charging voltage of your battery. It should be about 14.5 volts DC with the engine at twice idle revs. If it is higher than this, you will need a new regulator. if the voltage is in AC you need a new rectifier and battery. The reason the lights dim is due to insufficient current being available to run the lights and the engine at the same time, an indication that the battery is not holding a charge.

05 dyna starter solenoid clicking, won't start or turn over.

Hi Anonymous, and the usual suspects are:
1.Ignition/Light Key Switch not in IGNITION position.
2.Engine Stop switch in the OFF position.
3.Discharged battery, loose or corroded connections check negative cable at both ends. (solenoid chatters).
4. Bank Angle Sensor tripped and Ignition/Light Key Switch not cycled to Off and then back to on.
5. Starter control circuit, relay or solenoid faulty.
6. Electric starter shaft pinion gear not engaging or over-running clutch slipping.
7. Security alarm not disarming

05 cadillac sts left brakelight is dim

The globe may be in backwards. Twin filiment globes can sometimes be installed back to front. See when you have your running lights on if that one is brighter than the other, if so it is backwards, Otherwise the globe is probably getting old & blackened & need to be replaced.

Lights dim when rpms up

Start by checking you're stator output, Put a meter on it in VAC ( Volts AC ) on the 2 wires coming out of the case ( on the left side of the bike ) run the bike General rule of thumb is 25 VAC for every 3000 rpm. ex: 25 @ 3000, 50 @ 4000, 75 @ 3000. On the older bikes as long as you're around 65 and up @ 3000 you should be good.
