SOURCE: front pipe gets red hot as soon as the bike stars up

Muffler or baffle obstructed or something in the exhaust is stopping the flow.dom not run this engine it will burn-up.You may be using too high an octane fuel also.

SOURCE: what coud be making my pipe got red hot

Hi, the pipe getting red at the header is caused by the fuel mixture being to lean or the ignition timing being too retarded. Check the induction side of the engine for air leaks and the carburettor for blockages etc. Check the ignition timing.
Hope that helps Matt...

SOURCE: What tempature should my rmz 450 run at? Also why

The cooling system on the RM-Z450 was designed for motocross and only works efficiently with air flowing through the radiator. You should not sit at idle for more than a minute or two if at all possible. The extreme high output of this engine causes extremely high exhaust output temperature. The pipe temps can reach 600-800 degrees F plus all the way back to the silencer. This is normal on all modern racing 4-strokes. There are a lot of aftermarket products available that help increase the cooling system efficiency. There are also several products that help insulate critical areas from engine and exhaust heat including shields for fuel tanks/lines, the carb/throttle body, rear shock, and plastic body work.

2005 wr450 exhaust pipe is red hot coming out of head

Hi, Anonymous your motorcycle is a high-performance dirt bike designed to run flat out that being said if you are strolling down some scenic trail at a slow speed or letting the bike idle for a few minutes your header pipe will turn cherry red, why you ask? It is not a street bike, it is designed for competition and weight is a major factor all necessary components are of the smallest and lightest design necessary to maintain performance under extreme conditions ie. small radiator and inside frame oil reservoir that doesn't get cooled, the majority of your riding needs to be at high speed. 2001 yamaha wr426. My bike is running really really hot header pipe is red red hot can anyone please help.... I was told running to lean is this correct also I was told to turn the black knob on side of...

i had a problem with it running hot on idle and went up 2 jet sizes from stock and it made a huge difference it also made the bike start better while hot i had to do a little tuning with that black knob you were referring to but it helped out a lot the next thing you can do is a high out put water pump or dual core radiators that will help out a lot.

I have an '06 Vstar 1100 classic and i bought new exhaust pipes for it. How do i get the stock muffler off the headers?

often the sealant used is the problem, undo and remove the bolt/s holding the muffler to the swing arm there will be a clamp of some sort to tighen the muffler to the header undo this and you may need to lightly prise the header pipe open ,normally there are slots in this pipe to allow it to compress onto the header or it could be other way round where slots are on the muffler pipe. you may need to lightly tap these pipes away from each other with a block of wood and a hammer. in some cases they will be very tight together. in the past i have had to run the bike to get the exhaust hot and then cool down with water ONE of the sections to shrink it. BE CAREFULL NOT TO BURN YOURSELF. they should seperate fairly easy then.

My header pipe on my 2003 yz250f gets cherry red hot when i start it up real quick do i need to change air filter, spark plug, valve adjustment, or get the carb rejetted thanks

If you have changed the jets you may have to try a different size. I suspect that the pipe is getting red hot from to much fuel . I think your problem is the choke. It may be sticking, have a bad plunger, or may not be closing all the way. Start your inspection there.

I have 2006 TTR-250 with nomods and only 200 miles on it. Like another owner, I have problems running except on choke and have seen the pipe glowing red at idle. The bike has always been hard starting. ...

Well the glowing red header pipe and the fact that its hard to start is a pretty good sighn that your VALVES need adjusted.on a four stroke bike you have to adjust the valves about every 6 months to a year( and more often if you run it at high RPMs alot) i have both 2-strokes and 4-strokes bikes and have had this same problem with my 4-strokes(honda&yamaha) if you get a manuel and are somewhat mechanicaly inclined you can adjust them your self but if your not, i would take it in and have it done because if not done properly its easy to bend or break a valve( and i think yours has 4 valves.2-intake and 2-exhaust) And head work is not cheep!!!! but a adjustment on the valves is!!!!! good luck....
