Question about Hyosung GT 650 R Motorcycles

Over revving my mechanic tells me I destroyed the front head from over revving.but I have flew on the bike but neer past red line.. is this possible..

Knocking after being wrecked


Sounds like it jumped time mechanically. Keep in mind young men with Daddy's bike want to show off and be a badass. Having said that the motor was probably revved up and over into the red line and treated like hell bent for leather. A hard backfire can cause a connecting rod to be bent. The engine was most probably also very hot when it hit the water... oh ! STUFF. Cracked something? I hope not. If the bike is your baby, I suggest a complete dis-assembly and inspection before something breaks and causes more serious damage.

Loosing power


Instructions
  1. Power Wheelies
    • 1 Stand above the motorcycle with it running in neutral at the starting line of the track or one end of a long practice area. Pull in the clutch and shift the motorcycle into first gear.
    • 2 Begin rolling forward by rolling on the throttle smoothly and slowly letting out the clutch. When you are at a speed that is comfortable enough to put both feet on the pegs, lean forward on the bike and roll the throttle back quickly. Make this motion as fluid as possible so as not to overdo the wheelie. The front of the motorcycle will rise off the ground.
    • 3 Rev the motorcycle all the way to the red-line in first gear to pull the front of the motorcycle up into the air. This will not be a high or long wheelie, but is a great starting point. When you hit the red-line, pull in the clutch and shift to second. The front end will fall back down. Do not, for any reason, activate the front brake, while the front wheel is in the air, as this will cause the bike to crash upon contacting the pavement.
    Clutching Up
    • 4 Begin riding at a moderate pace in second or third gear. Be sure that you have plenty of space in front of you before beginning the execution of a "Clutch Up"
    • 5 Pull in the clutch as if to shift to the next gear but do not press the shift lever. Instead, rev the motorcycle by rolling back on the throttle smoothly and quickly. Let go of the clutch quickly (but as smoothly as possible) and lean forward to offset the power of the motorcycle.
    • 6 Repeat this maneuver multiple times to get comfortable with the motions. The front of the motorcycle may hop only slightly until you figure out the right amount of throttle and clutch to give the engine. Remember to never hit the front brake with the wheel in the air.
    • 7 Perform a proper wheelie by pulling in the clutch, revving the engine, leaning forward slightly and then dropping the clutch. Be sure to cover the rear brake with your right foot as it will keep the motorcycle from flipping if you give it too much gas.
    • 8 Hold the throttle at a steady position to keep the front wheel in the air. Bring the front wheel back down by pulling in the clutch or pressing softly on the rear brake.

New bike (to me), was riding it, cut off, and now kickstarter won't budge?


The cutting out sounds like you are revving above the red line. The red line is there for a reason- this is the engine speed at which the engine is under the most stress. In other words an ocassional trip into this area is not a problem, but continued use in this area will kill the engine. If the bike was mine, I would remove the head and check the piston and barrel. You don't say if the engine will start now. The fact that the kickstarter works now would seem to indicate that the engine is turning over, ( I hope). This should give you some idea at least. If not just ask!

1999 yamaha xv 535 when you start the bike there


I have a 94 virago that had that problem last year. First, is your starter switch releasing all the way out? Mine was sticking. Also the regulator-rectifier needed replacing, as it was no longer damping the current, which leads to surges, especially when revved. If you have a manual it will tell you how to check the current running through the bike. Replacing the regulator is cheap and easy even for me with my limited bike knowledge! Hope this helps. Red /yellow cloured oil leak around behind front wheel line


if it is yellow it could be the aircon compressor, if it is really red to pink, power steering or automatic transmission leak

'79 CB 750 won't start back up after running for a while


I would take the bike and or the battery to Sears or any large auto parts store and let them test the condition of the battery and the chargeing system.They will do it for free.Bike batterys seem to only last 2 or 3 years.

Just bought the bike new it needed a little work


clogged jets, try 1/3 can of "Sea Foam" for local Autozone first. on my old hurricane it wouldnt red line past 8000rpm before bogging out..i took my carb out and did an inspection and found something rattling around in the number one bowl...it was the main jet. go figure. once i got that fixed it was as fast as the 750s and some liter bikes off the line.

I have a 1996 Dodge avenger with a 2.0 4cyl engine, everytime the engine revvs past 3.5k rpms it spits all the coolant out the reservoir, then overheats. keeping that in mind i drove it for two weeks,...


It could be the head gasket. you should take it to a shop and have a pressure test done on it. that will tell you on the spot if the head gasket is bad.

Yes Geoff, What has happened is one of the two red glass filters on the color wheel has separated and flew off which was the snap you heard. So white light is in half of all parts of the spectrum that require any red.

There should also be a vibration now that can be felt on the projector and possibly heard as well.
I suggest not running it again until this is repaired as more damage could result. If you have the skills and the part that flew off isn't destroyed it can be carefully glued back in place and problem solved. I have seen quite a few of these glass filter segments survive this.
