1998 Kx100 Overheating after about 1 minute

Steam/Smoke coming from radiator and engine and bike starts running poorly.

carb. needs to be rebuilt sounds like trash in the float body or in the needles try using some sea foam in the gas tank (if u get it to start again) it has probably fouled out the plugs

SOURCE: exhaust pipe comes out white smoke when start bike on side stand

Continuous or just for the 5-10 seconds.
If continuous you may have oil seeping past your pistons oil rings or valve guides oil seals.
Check your spark plug see if they are fouled badly (covered heavily and oily) or just covered by oil and sooth lightly.
If 5-10 sec it is normal as the engine is heating up there are normally a little oil seeping past the seals.

My car has white smoke coming from the exhaust


he causes of white exhaust smoke can vary; however, it is common to see white exhaust smoke when first starting a car, especially on cooler days. This is generally steam caused by condensation. As the engine warms up and the condensation dissipates the white exhaust smoke (steam) is no longer seen. If excessive white exhaust smoke is present well after the engine warms up, it is necessary to have the car inspected for possible internal coolant leaks. Indicators of an internal coolant leak include billowing white exhaust smoke accompanied by a sweet odor or a low coolant reservoir level. An internal coolant leak can also contaminate the engine oil giving it a frothy, milky appearance. Even small amounts of coolant entering the combustion chamber will produce white exhaust smoke.
One of the main causes of white exhaust smoke and coolant loss is a cracked or warped cylinder head, a cracked engine block, or head gasket failure caused by overheating. A cracked head may allow coolant to leak into one or more cylinders or into the combustion chamber of the engine. Dirty coolant, a poorly maintained cooling system, a low coolant level, or a non-functioning cooling fan can cause engine overheating. In addition, engine wear can eventually cause the gaskets to lose their capacity to seal properly allowing internal coolant loss. Intake manifold gasket and head gasket failures are two of the most common sources of internal coolant loss caused by engine wear.
Never remove the radiator cap or coolant reservoir cap while the engine is hot or running as it can cause serious injury; always allow the car to cool down completely first. Checking for a low coolant level in the reservoir is the first step in determining if coolant loss is causing the white exhaust smoke. If the coolant reservoir is at the proper level but excessive white exhaust smoke is present, a cooling system pressure check is required to determine where, if any, coolant leaks are located.

You have leaking engine cylinder head gaskets, this may be the cause of the overheating or a result of it, replace the head gaskets and have the radiator cleaned by a by a radiator repair shop, that should cure the problems.

Most overheating problems are caused by a stuck closed thermostat, if it has already been replaced the next common cause is a clogged radiator, have it checked at a REAPIR SHOP OR RADIATOR SHOP IF YOU REMOVE IT YOURSELF

1996 Acura 3.2TL Overheating Problem...


From your description of symtoms it sounds like you have a bad water pump. If the coolant is not circulating properly you will have a heating problem. Sometimes even a new thermostat can stick and cause the engine to overheat. I have seen them fail in as little as a week after they were installed.

I have a 1996 Acura 3.2TL[V6] and it is overheating...


I had the same problem, whole new radiator, new hoses, new thermostat, and still overheating. What the problem was for me...bad radiator cap...all that money and a $20 fix...try it?

Water coming from exhaust smoke coming out of radiator cap


Water coming from your exhaust is very bad. Best case scenario is a blown headgasket that can be replaced and then go on. Other possibilities are cracked or warped head or cracked block. All will require at least removal of the head to repair.

Did you really mean exhaust smoke, or simply bike is overheating and blowing steam out the radiator cap? If simply overheating the first thing to check is your thermostat. Remove it and test in a pan of boiling water. Does it open? If not, replace it.

Its runnining close to hot on temp gauge and after i parked it from driving home fom work i saw some smoke coming from under the hood


If smoke, you may have a leak in a hose. When cool, check for water marks usually coming from the connection to the radiator. Another thing to do but may be dangerous is to load up the radiator with water and start the engine, let it run for about 15min for it to heat up and look for water spray. Also, when parked, is there a puddle of water under the car?

Also, I would check the water level in the radiator (never open when hot), to see if i need to add water. Don't look at the reservoir as a reference. It could be just low.

The key here is you think there may be smoke coming from the hood.

Another thing, if the radiator is full of water, then it could be your thermostat. it is usually located at the end of the top hose which runs from the radiator to the engine. In this picture, you are looking at the top of the engine looking down. This is the location of the Thermostat. If your vehicle is close to over heating, this valve could be getting stuck.

As a test, remove the thermostat and try driving it around to see if it gets close to overheating.
