there are only x many tricks for working in a wall of steel.?
the body is steel and the tank is steel. (no xmen about.?)
so? what are they. , there are only 2 , besides a monkey with skinny arms.
1: lower front of tank only trick (or left or right only. as case may apply)
2: look under rear seats for hatch covers,
and yes, drop tank always works. (after drained)

How do i drain old gas from the motorcycle

you will need to remove ur seat in order to get to the bolt or clip down that holds the rear of the petrol tank to frame.make sure the fuel tap is off & remove the fuel line going from tank to carburator then remove tank & empty the old gas out.there should also be a drain bung/bolt on bottom of ur carburator bowl, undo this let all gas empty out, then re-tighten & then reverse steps to put tank back on.Fill with fresh gas try start, check for any leaks & should be good to go!

Wont start been sitting for a year turns over but wont fire cant find how to get seat off or where to drain old gas

you have to use the key and the leaver in just back from the key side then take out the bolt that holds the tank down 12 mm you have 2 hoses going to the carbs one is a vacume line the other is fuel remove from thank then slide tank back and you should be able to drain the gas out of the tank but if you huck up a fuel line to the pitcook and drain the fuel into a pail you wont have to remove the tank pull the spark plugs and put fuel in and trie to start it again you may have to do this a couple of time to prime the carbs

Location of gas tank

i think it is under the rear seat.after you take out the seat bottom there is an access door to the fuel lines and the wiring .get a repair manual from this site,or your library ist. you must properly remove fuel pressure or gas will spray all over=car fixed, and you.the tank will still have to be removed from under the car reming exaust pipes shrouds whatever else is in the way before unbolting the tank.also it must be safely drained, and stored gas fumes not liquid gas explodes.danger.

How to remove gas tank

first of this years models petcock is on the right hand side of the bike built into the side cover so first pull off the side cover making sure not to break any of the tabs off.now unbolt the petcock making sure it's in the off position, now what i do if i have gas in the tank is add a long hose where the gas filter is an drain it into an apropriate container(you must drain the tank as if you don't when you remove the main gas line under the seat you'll have a gas mess on your hands)after fully draining the tank now take the bpassenger seat off by removing the tool box an the 2 10 mill bolts, after that remove the driver seat also 2 10 mil bolts, after that you'll see there's 2 gas lines a smaller 1 to the right and a larger 1 in the center, what i do is remove the clamps from the reserve tank that they feed, now take the center bolt off the tank and then the 2 side bolts up front and slide the tank up an forward being careful not to break the lines, while the tank is off inspect alllines an replace if they look dry rotted or cracked hope this has helped you out John a 1985 shadow owner himself

Fuel tank removal/fuel pump removal

First, remove the seat and disconnect the battery. Disconnect the hose at the bottom of the gas tank. Place an approved container on the ground and allow the gas to drain out of the tank until empty. Remove the console over the speedometer assembly.Remove the bolts connecting the tank to the frame. Remove the screw in front of the seat, at the back of the Harley-Davidson gas tank. Lift the tank up a little bit and disconnect the wiring harness from the tank. Lift the tank off the frame, taking care not damage the fuel line connections on the tank.

There is no fuel pump on a Harley Fat Boy.

Removing harley davidson ultra classic gas tank

Drain the fuel either by siphening or removing the cross over tube at the front of the tank and letting it drain that way or just block off those cross over lines and leave the fule in the tank for removal.

0) remove seat
1) drain fuel
2) undo cross over line (bottom front of gas tank.
3) shut off pet **** and remove fuel line from pet ****.
4)there should only be 2 bolts holding the tank on, one at the top front of the tank and one at the back of the tank.

All in all a pretty easy (but possibloy messy) job.

1986 toyota camary. sat for 2 to 3 years and the

best bet would be to drop the tank and clean it out
they tend to get rust inside the tank when they sit this long if you decide to drop the tank and find rust inside take a 3 ft piece of heavy chain and shake it around inside the tank to loosen all the rust and clean the rust out really well before putting the tank back in

I've got bad gas and need to know the easiest way to drain the tank or otherwise fix the problem.

The tank will have to be removed from the vehicle and completely dried out.Gas tanks no longer have drain plugs as they did 50 years ago.Remove the fuel pump from the top of the tank, and thoroughly clean the tank with brake cleaner and compressed air and let air dry for awhile. The fuel pump and filter will need to be replaced with new,and after all the reinstallation, the fuel line must be disconnected at the engine, and the line flushed with new, clean gasoline as well as the return fuel line.Spark plugs will have to be replaced also.
