Which way does the rear left spacer on a 2006 ultra classic go?


Locate the wheel in the rear swingarm and slide the wheel far enough forward to slip the belt over the sprocket and then slide the wheel backwards again. It is very important not to bend or fold the belt backward or into loops smaller than 5 inches (127 mm) in diameter because sharp bending can weaken the belt and cause it to fail. THEN seat the caliper on the anchor weldment of the rear swingarm. THEN position the wheel in the swingarm, so that the brake disc is centered between the brake pads. THEN coat the axle with grease. THEN with the larger OD on the outboard side, hold the external spacer between the rear swingarm and the belt sprocket and slide the axle through the left side of the rear swingarm, the external spacer, and the belt sprocket into the wheel hub and when the axle emerges from the hub on the brake disc side of the wheel, push the axle through the short external spacer, the caliper bracket and the right side of the rear swingarm. THEN rotate the axle so that the flat on the threaded end is topside. THEN with the thumb down and the cam forward, install the adjuster cam onto the end of the axle. THEN apply a thin film of ANTI-SEIZE LUBRICANT to the inboard side of the cone nut avoiding contact with the threads and install the cone nut on the axle finger tight. THEN get a torque wrench with a 1/2 inch drive head and an axle torque adapter such as (HD-47925) which simplifies the belt adjustment procedure by allowing the cone nut to be properly tightened without having to remove the right side muffler and can also be used to loosen the cone nut, as well as rotate the weld nut on the left side. The torque adapter MUST be only be installed on the torque wrench at 90 degrees perpendicular to the torque wrench because if it is not 90 degrees perpendicular to the torque wrench it will act as a torque multiplier and the cone nut will not be torqued to the torque specification set on the torque wrench but it will be over tightened. Which will cause bearing etc. damage. THEN insert the torque adapter tool up between rear wheel and muffler and onto the cone nut on the outboard side for best clearance from /with the muffler. Verify that THE adjuster cam just contacts THE weld nub on both sides of the rear swingarm. And if necessary, push the wheel forward slightly to get it where you need it to be. THEN snug the cone nut to 15-20 ft-lbs (20-27 Nm). THEN check deflection at the loosest spot in the belt using a belt tension gauge such as the (HD-35381A) gauge and apply 10 lbs. (4.5 kg) of force at the midpoint of the bottom belt strand. Belt deflection with the bike upright with the wheel in the air should be three sixteenths to one 1 quarter inch or 4.8 to 6.4 mm. Belt deflection with the bike on its kickstand without rider or luggage and 10 psi (69 kPa) in the Rear Shocks should be one quarter to five sixteenths inches or 6.4 to 7.9 mm

How do I get the rear drums off a 2000 Ford focus. I removed the spindle nut,


2000 Ford Focus Drum Removal ProcedureIf removing the drum to service the rear brakes: (note, do not remove hub retaining nut for this procedure)
1. Raise and support vehicle
2. Release the parking brake
3. Remove wheel and tire
4. Disconnect wheel speed sensor wiring harness from wheel knuckle and floor panel.
5. Remove 4 wheel spindle attaching bolts, then the wheel hub and drum assembly from vehicle.
6. Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
a. Torque wheel spindle retaining nut to 49 ft. lbs.
b. Torque wheel/tire assembly to 94 ft. lbs.
2000 Ford Focus Drum Replacement ProcedureIf replacing the drum and wheel bearing assembly:
1. Raise and support vehicle
2. Release the parking brake
3. Remove wheel and tire
4. Remove center dust cap.
5. Remove hub retaining nut.
6. Remove drum and hub assembly. Ensure wheel speed sensor ring is not damaged when removing drum/hub (if equipped).
7. Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
a. Inspect and clean wheel speed sensor ring if equipped.
b. When tightening hub retaining nut, rotate the hub assembly in counterclockwise direction.
c. Torque hub retaining nut to 173 ft. lbs.
d. Torque wheel/tire assembly to 94 ft. lbs.
e. Adjust parking brakes as necessary.

Tighten the U-bolt nuts evenly in a cross-type pattern with the weight of the vehicle on it's wheels (not jacked up it means)
Tighten the U-bolts nuts to 125 Nm (92 lb-ft).

4-Wheel Drive
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Negative battery cable
    • Rear wheel
    • Rear brake shoes
    • Rear halfshaft nut and loosen the halfshaft from the hub
    • Wheel hub and place it in a vise
    • Inner wheel bearing race from the hub
    • Antilock Brake System (ABS) sensor bracket and move the sensor aside, if equipped
    • Parking brake cable from the steering knuckle
    • Brake line from the wheel cylinder and support the knuckle
    • Lower shock absorber nut
    • Lower ball joint by holding the ball joint stud
    • Upper ball joint
    • Coil spring while noting the location of the insulator
    • Steering knuckle cam
    • Steering knuckle
    • Snapring and press out the outer wheel bearing race from the knuckle

To install:

  1. Install or connect the following:
    • New wheel bearing into the steering knuckle
    • Snapring to the knuckle
    • Wheel hub
    • Steering knuckle cam and hand tighten the bolt
    • Coil spring
    • Shock absorber lower nut. Torque the nut to 85 ft. lbs. (115 Nm) for 2002-04 models; 129 ft. lbs. (175 Nm).
    • Upper ball joint. Torque the nut to 76 ft. lbs. (103 Nm).
    • Lower ball joint. Torque the nut to 76 ft. lbs. (103 Nm). Align the steering knuckle cam and torque the bolt to 85 ft. lbs. (115 Nm).
    • Brake line to the wheel cylinder. Torque the brake line bracket bolt to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm) and the brake line fastener to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
    • Parking brake cable to the backing plate. Torque the bolt to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
    • ABS sensor bracket. Torque the bolt to 80 inch lbs. (9 Nm), if equipped
    • Halfshaft nut. Torque the nut to 214 ft. lbs. (290 Nm).
    • Brake shoes
    • Rear wheel
    • Negative battery cable
  2. Fill and bleed the brake system.
  3. Check and adjust the wheel alignment as needed.

2-Wheel Drive
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Negative battery cable
    • Rear wheel
    • Rear brake drum
    • Wheel hub nut
    • Wheel hub
    • Inner wheel bearing race from the hub
    • Snapring
    • Wheel bearing outer race from the knuckle

How to disassemble the rear end in a 2000 gmc yukon and how to remove axles


Removal & Installation To Remove:
  1. Before servicing the vehicle refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section
  2. Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel and tire assemblies but do not remove the lug nuts
  3. Raise and support the vehicle
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Wheel and tire assemblies
    • Axle lubricant into a suitable container
    • Rear driveshaft
    • Parking brake cable
    • Brake calipers
    • Shock absorbers from the axle brackets
    • Vent hose from the rear axle vent fitting
    • Nuts and the washers from the U-bolts
    • U-bolts, spring plates and spacers from the axle assembly
  5. Lower the axle assembly from the vehicle
To Install:
  1. Place the rear axle assembly under the vehicle
  2. Align the rear axle assembly with the springs then connect the spacers, spring plates and the U-bolts to the rear axle
  3. Raise the rear axle assembly into position
  4. Install or connect the following:
    • Washers and nuts to the U-bolts; Torque to: 59 lb-ft. (80 Nm) then, Torque to: 89 lb-ft. (120 Nm)
    • Vent hose to the rear axle vent fitting
    • Shock absorbers to the rear axle
    • Brake calipers (See: Brake Caliper)
    • Parking brake cable (See: Parking Brake Cable)
    • Rear driveshaft (See: Rear Driveshaft)

    • Dual Wheel: Torque to: 175 lb-ft. (240 Nm)
  10. Road test the vehicle to check performance

Those are not nuts, they are bolts. The torque spec for those bolts is 52ft.lbs

Loose rear wheel, believe it is the bearing. How do I repair it?


drum brakes you remove rear wheel- speed sensor-grease cap-flange nut-outer bearing-brake drum-inner grease seal-inner bearing-drive the bearing races out of the drum hub.to install -install the inner and outer bearing races.apply grease to the bearings and hub cavity.then you install the inner bearing -inner grease seal-brake drum-outer bearing-flange nut torque it to 159 to 192 ft lbs. THE REAR DISC BRAKE WHEEL BEARINGS-you have to remove rear wheel -wheel speed sensor-brake caliper and rotor-rear axle hub bolts-tone the wheel with tool 09445-21000-carrier assembly-nut after unstaking it-press out the rear axle hub-remove the bearing inner race with tool 09445-21000-remove the bushings from the carrier with tools 09453-33000b and 09545-21100.to install -press in the bushings to the carrier with tools 09453-33000b and 09545-21100- press in the bearings to the hub with tool 09221-21000.tighten the flange nut to meet the concave portion of the spindle-press in the tone wheel with tool 09221-21000-torque the nut to 191 ft lbs -install the hub and bearing assembly to the backing plate and torque the bolts to 88 ft lbs-install the brake caliper and rotor.install the wheel speed sensor if equipped.install the rear wheel.TO BUY THE TOOLS TO DO THE JOB.LOOK UP KENT MOORE TOOLS ON INTERNET.
