85 xj700 has spark and compression but won't start

Fuel filling up the cyclinder, runing out the exhaust. Removed spark plugs and petrol came out. What is causeing this to happen?

It certainly sounds like the needle valve is stuck.
If it is a gravity feed fuel system and a normal carburettor it sounds a particularly bad design not being equipped with a petrol tap to isolate the supply when the machine isn't in use. Gravity fed designs without a fuel tap would typically place the fuel level below the engine inlet ports to prevent that potentially dangerous and/or expensive type of flooding. The surplus fuel would then run from the carburettor float chamber vent which if it presented any immediate danger would be piped away.

As part of the investigation and repair it would be a good idea to change the engine oil.

Gas in oil

there is no overflow for the carbs and are vacuum fed, it could possibly be the fuel tap is letting fuel thru to the carbs when the bike is not running and going into the cylinders. good idea to take the fuel line off the tap and see if it is letting petrol thru. if so, a new gasket and seal set should cure the problem. otherwise a float in one of the carbs is maybe stuck open.

Starts runs for about 1 min then shuts off give it gas it shuts off

Fuel restriction, undo the drain screws in the lower of each carb float bowl, allow old fuel to drain out, it may be the float needles are stuck thus preventing the fuel from flowing freely into the carbs, check fuel flows from fuel tap removing the fuel pipe and turning the tap to prime position will allow fuel out of the tank without the need to run the engine. It may be you have to remove the carbs for overall including cleaning all the jets etc. Hope this helps,

My 2006 klx 250 won't fire, no fuel in float bowl, Tank is full, I drained the float bowl to try to get it to start and now no fuel is getting to the bowl

Check the filter screen on the fuel tap for blockage etc. Also check the tap for anything that may have lodged in it and blocking it. Check the fuel pipe too.

Ford ranger #4cylinder misfire, 4.0/ v-6 already changed plugs, wires& coil pack.

the misfire may be caused by a fuel injector that is not working. Do you have a good spark at that cylinder?. If so try the redneck approach to fixing a stuck fuel injector. first make sure the fuel injector plug is clean(terminals) and on tight. With the engine running, Take a long socket extension and place an end on the fuel inector plastic housing, tap on the other end with a hammer. LIGHT taps!!! remember its just plastic! sometimes this is enough to free up a stuck injector. If not, then replace the injector.

before you do this Unplug the injector and see if the engine idle changes. Also check for an electrcal pulse at the injector plug with engine running.

I have a 1986 ninja 1000r it will start and idle but as soon as i start to take off and get to bout 15 mph it will die?

This sound like a fuel supply problem, perhaps the fuel tap is stuck. you could try it with the tap in the pri (prime) position, if this helps it may need a new fuel tap rebuild kit

# carb not getting fuel

drain your fule tank to nearly empty if you can,, if not pull fule pipe off cards and blow hard up fule pipe into tank, (with fule tap open) you should here bubbles in the tank,,if not its the tank fule tap or filter,,,,if you do here bubbles and fule runs freely from pipe when fule tap is turned on the problem is in the card its the flote neadle stuck,, strip card and clean it all out,, dont poke wire into any jets,, you will only do more harm than good, take your time and put it all back as you took it apart

When trying to start fuel pours from the carby

Been there done that, Carb needle stuck in the open position. Do NOT try to start it this way as if a cylinder fills with fuel it will hydrolock and cranking the engine can break expensive things. If you need to crank it pull the 3 spark plugs on the effected side and crank it over to remove the fuel from the flooded cylinders. This may require carb. removal and tear down if tapping on the carb bowls doesn't fix it. Same thing happened to my 1999 Valk. Interstate.

Fuel overflow from carburator

you have a stuck float in the carb.  However, the fuel valve should have stopped the fuel flow.  so you need to rebuild the carbs and replace the fuel valve.
