Question about 1997 Suzuki GSF 600 S Bandit
Hi All, First post on here so hope i have come to the right place. If not sorry. I have a Bandit S reg, i recently stripped the headlights indicators off to enable me to get the frame sprayed to get rid of the rust spots. when i brought it I think the previous owner did some electrical works to it so don think that is as standard. Came to fit the Speedo and Tacho back on an couldnt tell which wire went where as it was (orange/green, black/red,black/white). now the engine wont switch on, I put the ignition on both neutral light and oil light comes on but when the ignition button is press the headlight comes on instead, also when the indicators are put on the headlight flashes away. Back light doesnt come on when lights are on. Any ideas? ive taken the Tacho off. anyone got any photos of the back of their tacho under the silver bowl to see which wire goes where. **** Just went back to switch the engine on and it came on - Headlights came on left indicator worked however went to put it to right and twice the engine cut out and now it has gone back to the above. ***

SOURCE: 79 gs550 - uh ohs in wiring...
When you reassembled the bike did you pinch any of the wiring harnesses? Trace the wiring through the bike and make sure everything has a solid connection between their respective power sources and activation switches. Alot of time bikes run wiring under the gas tanks so you need to make sure that you didnt cut anything when pputting it back on (if you removed the tank)

Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Initially, try with the sidestand folded up and / or the clutch lever pulled in. Likewise determine if there is a clicking sound when the start button is pressed:
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Check that the clutch is in, kick stand up, and neutral light ablaze. Then try your start button. When you had it running and hit the button, the starter engaged at a slower speed then the bike engine was turning, which led to the stall. The stall means your starter works. If the starter works when the engine is running then it is wiring. Check your kick stand wiring along with the clutch wires which plug in on the handlle bar or where the clutch cable enters the engine.
