Yamaha yzf-r1 power lost

My Yamaha r1 has lost power and backfires a lot now with idle dropped

Check spark plugs and leads. They can break down and fail when under load. If it is happening at idle then it is likely to be the plug leads themselves. Both are easily replaceable. If you have fitted anything new such as a new (Non-standard) exhaust you could have caused this problem, without your knowledge.

check your tank breather hose for any blocks or kinks - also have a look at the fuel filter and airbox.

SOURCE: Possible blown fuse in 2002 Yamaha YZF R1

the fuse box is under neath the left side cover as in on the left side when you are setting on the bike it is the fuse that says signals i beleive it is a 15 amp fuse.

SOURCE: how much oil does a yamaha yzf r1 2007 take

"most" bikes on average without filter change take anywhere from 2.8 to 3.0 qts. I always purchase 4 quarts because an extra one will always come in handy in the future anyway. First your bike i believe has a sight gauge... First stand the bike upright on a stand or have someone hold it up for you pour in 2 and 1/2 quarts, put fill cap on, start bike, let warm up for about a minute to let the oil settle, then turn off and then start pouring in slowly till it gets to a little above 3/4 full on the sight gauge...you never want to overfill it could cause engine damage. Now just remember how much oil you put in and that is the approx. amount.

2. Air fuel mixture screws not properly adjusted.
3. Inlet system air leak.
4. Leaking accelerator pump.
5. Loose low-speed jet.
6. Plugged low-speed jet.

8. Enrichner valve/choke not seated or leaking.
9. Multi carburetors out of sync and need to be balanced.

I have 1998 r1 and it's high reving on idle

1. Throttle cables improperly adjusted, pinched or need lubrication.
2. Idle adjusting screw needs to be backed off.
4. Air fuel mixture adjusted too lean start with 2 full turns.
5. Intake system air leak.
6. Fast idle choke ramp is not releasing.
7. Broken throttle return spring.
8. Damaged diaphragm or slide.
9. Faulty MAP, TPS, ATS, O2, sensors or wiring/connector

I have a 2001 yamaha r1 will idle fine 1500 or higher lower it quits trying to find out where idle mixture screws are suppose to be set at has k&n air filter and yoshimura rs3 slip on was told it was...

2002 R1 stalls at idle


Hi, Nigel_46 and the usual suspects are:
1. Idle circuit and transfer ports clogged.
2. Air fuel mixture adjustment too lean.
3. Pilot jet clogged.
4. Faulty accelerator pump.
5. Float level too low.
6. Float bowl contaminated old fuel, water, dirt, rust, etc.
7. Float bowl vent or overflow tube clogged.
8. Fuel flow to carburetor restricted.
9. Intake manifold leak.
10. The gas cap is not venting properly or fuel tank venting system blocked.
11. Vacuum line from intake manifold to petcock broken, cracked, or not attached, carburetor vent line plugged.
12. Needle and seat stuck closed in the float bowl.
13. Multi carburetors not in sync.
